I'm not sure if this has been posted already, but the Gay Days rates for October 2008 are available :woohoo: The rate for the Grand Californian is $229, Disneyland Hotel is $189 and Paradise Pier is $179. These rates are available From October 1-10, 2008. Last year, we stayed at the Grand Californian, but the rates are about $20 more per night this year and we felt the customer service was lacking but the location was unbeatable, so we're undecided whether to stay there or give the DH or PP a try this year. We'd love to hear from those who have stayed at all three and given the difference in pricing, which property is the best deal ?

We stayed at the GCH last October at the Gay Days rate. It was a really great deal! But if your not wanting to stay there again I'd go with the DLH. Niether the DLH or PP is going to have that great location. But we like many things about the DLH, including the disney theming, the Peter Pan pool ect..

As much as I liked that rate and seeing all the Halloween decorations, the crowds were just too much for us. It just didn't make the deal worth it for us when a few of the days was just wall to wall people. Were planning on going in November or early December during a week that has little crowds (hopefully!). We'll probably stay offsite, but staying at the GCH at that deal sure was nice!

JenDisneylandlver,

I know what you mean about the crowds!! It wasn't too bad for us because we didn't have any little ones with us, just my husband and me. We arrived when the parks opened, gathered as many fastpasses as possible and went on the rides we really wanted to go on and then left as the crowds were getting heavy. We went back late in the afternoon and used the fastpasses we had collected in the morning. I'm hoping that the crowds will be lighter this year because it's not being held on Columbus Day weekend.

anyone hear anything about mini-gay day event in April (they had it last year - 6 months between the October meet)

was hoping they might offer discounted tix for April as was reported here for last Octpopcorn::

The mini gay day event is not a convention like the one in October, so you won't find convention tickets being offered at that time.

Nuts!! We're planning on being there 10/4-10/10. Are there any crystal ball predictions about the crowds? I hate being at WDW when it's so crowded and I can't imagine liking DLR any better in extreme crowds! Should we try to change plans? DH has already put in for those vacation days!

I was there last year, alone with my two kiddos and must say I was not bothered by the crowds at all??? Granted I do go all the time and have a pretty good plan of attack to hit the parks, but was not bothered by the crowds and I was there the actual weekend of gay days (DH wanted to go to CA for an event with his parents, so I told him he could drop me off :rolleyes1 :rotfl2: )

We were there at this time last year, too, and are NOT experienced park-goers. (This was our 2nd trip, the first being in September the previous year.) So for us, it felt a LOT busier! We had never seen people sitting in roped off areas all the way down Main St. (I mean IN THE STREET) waiting for the fireworks before!

There was one evening we walked into Adventureland all the way through NOS and into Critter Country, and the crowds just never let up, it felt like we were crawling over people to get through the crowd. We just turned around and slowly made our way out of the park, it was too busy for us. I will say that I'm sure that was a Friday or Saturday night, however. The weekdays were busier than our previous trip, but more manageable.

I think if, like Dizzy, you are good at dealing with crowds and lines, and have a touring plan (like Ridemax, the one from UG, or your own invention), you'll have an easier time than we did. :)

kc10family - Gay Days 2008 are Oct. 3-5

Alex2kMommy - We also thought the crowds last year were extremely heavy at night, especially when they started roping off areas and redirecting the crowds. Last year (and the year before), Gay Days was held on Columbus Day weekend which I think added to the crowd levels. This year, Gay Days is the weekend before Cloumbus Day weekend, so we're hoping that might make a difference.
