what hotels have people stayed in at gatwick and which ones would you recommend?
thamks kellie:)

I've stayed at both Le Meridien(Sofotel) and Trumbles. We changed when Le Meridien got too expensive. It was great for just walking across to the airport.

We now stay at Trumbles. You get a full English breakfast, the owner takes you to the airport and picks you up when you return. Room, Full English Breakfast, parking for 10 days and transport - £100.

The Sofitel attached to the North Terminal for us! We booked for this year, room for us and DD including breakfast for all of us £160 on the BA website - cheaper than anything else we could find and breakfast is isually £18 each.

We stayed at the Hilton which is attached to the South Terminal. Made Twilight check in and acually getting the plane EASY

Have also stayed at the Hilton. If you are flying with Virgin it does make it easy & you can always eat in the terminal if you prefer.

hi

we have stayed at the hilton although personally i think its very expensive with the parking, when we went to spain in april we stayed at the travel lodge about 5 mins from the airport and we booked a saver room so for all 5 of us 2 adults, 2 kids and an infant it cost us £39.00. nothing special but it was ok.

We like B&B at The Lawn. I first heard it recommended here on the boards :)

Double room and a good breakfast is £60, parking £3.50 per night and the owner will take you / collect you (apart from times when they're doing breakfasts) for no extra charge, or they'll book a taxi for about £5 one way (5 mins. away).

So all in just over £100 for the room, breakfast, transport to the airport and two weeks' parking :thumbsup2

We've stayed at the Travelodge lots of times but have also stayed at the Copthorne (our favourite), the Premier Lodge (fine), Hilton (very handy), and Russ Hill (awful, awful, awful, terrible).

The Sofitel for us. There's always a deal available somewhere...we've got it as cheap as £99.

we've stayed at the hilton and sofitel, and both were fine although expensive. I prefered the sofitel though as the bed was just so comfortable.

Stayed in the Sofitel (although have stayed there quite a few times before) before we flew and stayed in the Hilton for about 7 hours after we flew (booked a "day room").

IMHO the Sofitel is in a class above the Hilton... the public areas are so much nicer, the staff are so much more efficient and professional (the reception staff at Hilton were not impressive at the Hilton yesterday) and the room/bed/bathroom are so much more modern and stylish at the Sofitel... it wins hands down...

Even if we were flying from the South Terminal, we would definitely pick the Sofitel over the Hilton.
