4 off us travelling with Virgin in July with an overnight stay at a Gatwick guest house.

We will use twilight or internet check-in but need to keep one bag back for overnight use.
Any reason why three of us can't check in or use bag drop off and the other one in the morning, to allow us to get rid of all but the smallest case?
Do we have to check in together as one party.

Why not do on linec check in then all of you do bag drop off the next morning? in that way you should end up with seats together

It simply saves having to lug cases to guest house and back for no reason.
Have got seats reserved already so is there any reason why three of us can't use the twilight check-in or bag drop off.

No, but don't forget until you are at checkin/bag drop off the seats CAN be changed up to the point you get your boarding tix (and sometimes afterwards........)

What I do not know is if you could all check in the night before and then get rid of the bag at drop off the next morning. I would contact VA and ask.

The reason I say this is that we on our way back, check in at Downtown Disney and check in all but one bag there. then the bag which will have the little 'uns car seat in, we drop off at MCO.

You may be able to do the same at LGW, but I do not know, as we always stay at either the Gatwick Hilton or Le Meridian, so never need to get rid of the bags early.

We didn't bother with a special bag for our overnight stay at Gatwick (Hilton). DDs had their nightware in their own hand luggage. We took our old toothbrushes, (as we had bought new for the holiday) and a small travel size toothpaste - we then just left in the brushes and paste in the room waste bin :)

We actually used the online checkin (to make sure we got the seats we chose) and twilight checking just to get rid of our bags so we had nothing to worry about part from hand luggage on the morning of our flight :)

Similar to everyone else we used twilight check-in to get boarding passes as we were traveling with an infant and wanted to make sure we had the bulkhead for the skycot (can't be allocated by online check-in), we then stayed overnight in the Hilton and then as soon as the check-in opened in the morning got rid of all bags and then went to breakfast in the hotel and checked out the room in time to catch the flight.

In hindsight lots of walking back and forth, now I would use online check-in but worth it to get sky cot as little one (then 8 months) slept for 5 hours flying over. We were told that everone traveling on the booking had to be at the check-in when dropping off bags or checking in the night before and again the next day when dropping off the rest of the bags. I would suggest keeping all your bags, check in online and just drop all you bags in one go the next day.

Trying First Choice from East Midlands this time.
