Hello :goodvibes

We are thinking about visiting Gatorland next month on a free day. Can anyone recommend it? Is it worth the time/money?

Thanks!

Yes, I recommend Gatorland. It's worth the time and money. Our 2 kids loved it. They liked the crocodile feeding frenzy called jumparoo where the crocs jump for a dangling whole chicken suspended over the pond. Gatorland is small-scale so don't expect Disney. No fancy rides, animatronics, fireworks. NO high-priced Disney parking fee, so that's good. Gatorland is low-key, old-style Florida amusement...kind of like a farm. Small train ride, zoo and swamp are also inside Gatorland.

The website used to have some $$ off coupons. So did the Entertainment book (might be just Orlando's). Or look around when you're in Orlando and you might be able to get some type of coupon.

It's alot of fun. Plan on about 3 -4 hours.

Thanks! Just what I needed to know. Sounds fun , I think we'll try it out.

In a book I have on Orlando it says they give 30% off for AAA members. I wonder if they still do that, that is a great savings!

Sounds like a great way to spend a morning and afternoon. Thanks!

We loved Gatorland. The shows are great. If your kids love gators they will truly enjoy this park. Go for it.:thumbsup2

We do love gators. We stopped at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm last year and we LOVED it. I'm definately going for it after these great reviews!

Gatorland was really a lot more fun than I expected. The Jumparoo show is great and they have a lot of different animals along the path to look at. They also have a petting zoo area and a place where you can give nectar to Lorikeets.

In addition to the Jumparoo show they have an Alligator Wrestling show, which is pretty cool, it's humorous, daring and even gives you some history about Florida.

They also have another show, I can't remember the name of it but it was about exotic animals and included audience participation.

There is a small "water park" where kids can play and there is a smaller, dry playground area too.

There are tons of gator/croc viewing areas. I think the one by the snack bar/Jumparoo area is one of the coolest because you can see the gators in their various stages of growth, they have babies, toddlers, adolescents and then the big boys out in the open waters.

We didn't go on the train but I think it was like 2.00 a person to ride.

I had been given free tickets, that is the only reason I even thought about going to Gatorland but it was really a neat place and I would go back again.

Sounds super! We love feeding Lorakeets and the shows sound really fun and interesting.

Glad to know it's so fun ~ we will definately go.

Thanks to all for the great help :goodvibes

I loved it. I live in the North, so gators are something new for us. At Gatorland, they are everywhere. We got photos of the kids on a gator, which we cherish. Actually, I think we cherish every photo of the kids. The Entertainment Book has a buy one get one free admission. That alone is worth the price of the book. It is hot, so I would plan to do it when it is cooler.

Have fun.

Sorry to dissent---

It would be cool if I spent $10 or less to get in...

We went in 2002 and you can only look at gators for so long. The best part was the little water spray area they had.

Thought it was a huge waste of $$ for our family of four. I think I had a discount, but it was way over priced for what it was.
