October is the second busiest time in Gatlinburg...big craft show. DH and I were there Columbus Day weekend 2002 and it was great...just traffic gets backed up on the main drag sometimes. We've stayed at 2 places there...the Chalets of Gatlinburg, which was a cabin with a full kitchen, living room, bathroom, and a pool table in the "dining room". There was loft that had a king bed and a heart shaped jacuzzi tub...very nice for getting away from everything. The other place was the Greystone Lodge cottages when we took DS with us. We really like this place...only about 7 blocks up the hill from the Hard Rock Cafe, but still secluded. It had a full living room, kitchen half bath downstairs. Upstairs were the 2 bedrooms, one with a king bed, mater bath complete with a jacuzzi tub, and second bedroom with a queen bed and a bathroom.
Food places that are good....
In Gatlinburg, the Pancake something or other...it has some of the best breakfast food, the pancakes are the European fashion, similar to crepes, but a bit thicker. I highly recommend the one with apples and black walnuts...yummy!
In Sieverville, which is so close eat at the Apple Barn Farmhouse...some of the best home cookin' you'll find. The apple fritters are so good with their homemade apple butter! You will not go hungry eating here...and all meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) are so good.
Have a great time!
