This is the first time we will be driving to Disney World.. We are staying at Pop Century. Since we do not get our keys to the world until we check in; what information do we need at the entry gates to Pop Century..Is it just the booking confirmation number. We booked ourselves through Disney#.
thank you

If you have your conf number, you'll be way ahead of most people. The guard may ask for photo identification. Anyone can drive to Pop for shopping, etc. so the guard will direct you to parking and explain where to go to check in. They are very nice.

I was just going to say my conversations driving through are something like:

Guard: Hi!
Me: Hi! I'm checking in today!
Guard: Okay *waves through*

Exactly!

OP, enjoy your stay at POP - it's a great resort. ::yes::

I'm not saying that didn't happen to you, but I would say not to count on that because I don't think that is the 'norm'...

Every time we have checked in when driving, or when we have not been able to use the gate with our room key, we have been asked to show ID. On check in day, they asked for one of our ID's (we didn't need our ressie #) they just checked it against a master list on a clip board then sent us on our way since we told them we knew where we were going. But in general we have not just been waved thru. I guess it must depend on who is working the gate and we must come thru when the 'Gate Nazi' is working. ;) Not that I mind at all... makes me feel a wee bit safer that they are attempting to see what business people are there to 'conduct' on property (obviously, not that a person looking to make trouble can't lie but at least they are making an attempt to monitor) :)

I've never had to show ID, or give any kind of reservation number (resort, or dining). :confused3

I don't know what good a clip board would do - people are able to come check out resorts and use food courts and such who wouldn't be on a list (not saying it didn't happen!).

I definitely think this is the lowest thing on the totem pole to worry about in planning!! :cool1:

In the last few years, we haven't entered any resort where we spoke to the guard without showing either drivers license or KTTW card to the guard. But I don't see it as a big deal unless someone is on the Most Wanted List.

just have your driver license ready - then you don't even need to talk to them.

now some of the resorts you get your driving pass at the security guard - so far the value resorts still give that to you when you check in.

I'm sure the clipboard had a list of those of us checking in the day and it just confirmed 'our story'.

My DD had a friend who spent the day with us in the parks and then instead of having to try and meet her dad at the TTC to 'give her back', we figured it would be way easier for her to go back to our hotel and for him to pick her up there since he had a rental car. When he came over to pick her up, they asked for his ID at the gate and he told them he was there to pick up his daughter. They didn't have a problem with it but they never waved him thru either. Again, I guess it depends on who's working the gate. But IMO, if they are going to just 'wave people thru' no questions asked why bother even having anyone there? :confused3 That's just a waste of a salary IMO...

The day we were checking into AKL last month I had to show the guy at the gate my driver's license, but he didn't ask to see the room confirmation. He checked his clip board for our names though. At first he told us to go to the regular guest parking lot, but then he noticed my mom's handicapped plaquard hanging from the mirror of the rental car, looked at my mom, then very nicely explained where the handicapped parking lot was (past the front door, right up against the side of the building, and no where near the regular parking). We didn't ask, he was just very nice and helpful.

Just did this recently the guard took my driver's license and gave us a parking pass with my name on it and told us where to park as we check in
No conformation number was needed nor asked for

On the other hand, this poster isn't encouraging people to be rude and to refuse to engage in at least minimal conversation with the human beings working at the gatehouse at any resort. I hope.
