Gate checking a stroller

If I "gate check" our stroller, does that count as a carry-on item?

No. Airlines let you bring a stroller just as a courtesy.

No - it technically dosen't get "carried on" but left at the door when you board. Take everything off that isn't part of the stroller, ie toys cup holders and fold it securely. We used a bungee to be on the safe side. The baggage attendant will bring it down and put it in the luggage hold after all the checked luggage has been loaded. Sometimes if they come unfolded and the person can't fold it (some are tricky) it can get damaged.

When you arrive the attendant will bring all the gate checked items, usually wheel chairs and strolers, up to the door for you to pick up. Usually its waiting but I have had to wait a few minutes occasionally for them to bring it.

When you get to the gate just check with the FA and get a gate check tag so the attendants can identify it as gate checked rather than sending it to the carosel.

No. The stroller is stored in the aircrafts luggage compartment, not in the cabin. the ability to use your stroller down the jetway(and back up at arrival) is a courtesy of the airline, and a godsend to parents.

If we are taking a stroller w/ the infant carseat, what is the best way to have it gate checked? Do I need to do anything to secure the car seat. If I have two strollers, (only one travel system) will that be a problem?

Will you be using the car seat on the plane?? You won't need anything special. As long as it is approved. They will even give you an extender if you ask. You can check the strollers doesnt matter if its one or two. They will put a little tag on it when they take your ticket before walking down to the plane. You will fold it up & leave it at the entrance to the plane. And that is where it will be when you come off the plane give or take a couple minutes.

It doesn't count against carryon but be sure you can get it down on your own. Some of the staff help others do not.

I had to get my dd our carry on, diaper bag and her car seat down myself it was rough. But coming out a nice flight attendant lady helped carry the car seat to the end for me.
