Gasparilla closed ..what options do I have

During our upcoming trip in October, The GF's Gasparilla grill will be closed. It's the counter service there. Seems like I should get a some kind of compensation to stay there. What about resort mugs and a way to fill them up or simply get a cup of coffee? Does anyone know what my options are? Can I ask for access to the concierge area?

We really want to stay there, but I don't like quick service area being closed.


Also the courtyard pool is closed.

I think there is another option, and it is escaping me right now. We are staying there at the end of Sept. I don't care that Gasparilla's is closed...I love that resort! But if it is going to bug you-I'd just switch resorts! Is there a pool bar or something they will have open for quick service? Something like that...I remember reading.

Only thing I can think of is the pool bar. Maybe they will expand it during the time when Gasparillos is closed? Maybe have mug fill-ups there, as well?

We are staying @ GF in less then a month from now. We received a letter from the wonderful ppl @ GF about a month ago apologizing for any inconvenience this "up updating" may cause to our trip and offered up some alternatives to those areas that will be closed:

The Beach Pool w/slide will be still open (in lieu of closure to the courtyard pool). Also, the Beach Pool grill will be offering QS and there will be some pre-packaged food @ Mizner's Lounge and of course, they will still have their Table Service eateries. Since the Spa will be closed (however, not the gym facilities), we are able to use the Spa @ SSR.
Also, I believe we will be allowed (during this "renovation") to utilize the pool and services @ the Poly.

The pool bar is supposed to be open with an expanded menu as well as some items at Mizners.

I guess until it actually all happens we wont know 100% the impact.

I highly doubt they would give you Concierge Area access due to the closures.

You want some kind of compensation because the quick service will be closed? Really? If the quick service is that important, you can fill your coffee at the pool bar, I believe that's the alternative. The other alternative is to switch your resort. They've put the closure schedule out there.... it's up to everyone staying there to decide if they want to remain.

There are probably club level rooms still left available; you can always call and pay to upgrade to club level. As someone who stays and pays for club level; I wouldn't be very happy to find out they were giving it for free to everyone.

For coffee; there's always room service.

You can always change your reservation to another one of the many resorts that offer counter service. I'd stay away from BWI, YC and AKV though since they don't have convenient counter service options.

I do understand where you are coming from. We were booked at GF for October as well. We decided to switch resorts as we were receiving the same 30% discount no matter where we stayed with a pin code. Since this would have been our first stay at GF, I wanted to experience it at its best which is why we decided to switch. Next time...

When we've stayed at the GF there was a free coffee service near the main doors of our building. Not club level.
