Gas Stations near Airport?

Hi. I need to return our rental van to the airport (MCO) with a nearly full
tank. Could anyone tell me the closest gas station and also the easiest
for getting on/off? We will be coming from the east of the airport. Thanks.

Chad

If you will be coming on 417, there is a Circle K nearby. Instead of turning left when you get off the tollway, turn right and keep going for a mile or so. The Circle K will be on your right. Some people have reported being able to make it from WDW to the airport with the needle showing full after filling up around WDW, but many of the cars I've rented would NOT make it. Even though the gas is cheaper around 192 and on WDW property, it's better not to take the risk...the higher amount you'll pay by the airport is much less than the rental company's penalty for not returning the vehicle full.

Yep. We learned this the hard way. I was planning to fill up on the way to the airport, but somehow it completely slipped my mind. The charge was $90 more than it would have cost to fill the tank :earseek:

I found the gas stations closest to the airport were charging way more than the ones a little ways out. It was a long time ago but I also forgot to fill up and when I got close to the airport the gas was way more than it was anywhere else. I back tracked and found a gas station one or two exits before the airport with much more reasonable prices.

Actually we have learned that if you fill up and top off the tank at WDW (Hess stations on site are cheaper by far than those around WDW) then it will still be on full when you get to the airport. Easier for us to do the night before we leave and then it is done.

If time permits, do at least a little shopping around. Definitely compare prices at different stations if you are on a main drag with lots of stores and businesses, don't pull into the first gas station you see and fill up.

My suggestion is to fill up at the Hess Station at Disney. Their prices seem to be the best around. You can always top off near the airport, but getting the major refill at the Hess works well for me.

Our first couple of trips we filled up just before the airport but we learned we could fill up near our timeshare which is 15 to 20 miles from MCO...the gas gauge always shows a full tank when we drop the car off and we've never been charged for fuel.

We also fill up at the Hess station at Disney and the tank is still showing full at the airport. We sometimes have an intermediate car and sometimes a mini van depending on how many of our kids are with us.

Actually, in my experience, the WalMart on SR-535 (I believe the cross street is Polynesian Isle Blvd) near WDW is usually a penny or two cheaper than the Hess stations on property.

I do this every trip, works great.

Fill it up, then nurse more into the filler tube. The needle will never come off of full.

My experience is the same as most of the above. Filling up on site AS YOU LEAVE will get you to the airport, no extra charge.

Thanks everyone for the tips on filling up before the airport.
We will be coming from the East (i.e. will be making a visit to Daytona
Beach just before leaving and will be coming from the other side of the airport).
The maps I've looked at don't show much east of the airport on 528.
Any other gas stations out there? Thanks again.

I too topped off at the Hess outside of MGM on the way to the airport (well, on the way to MGM that morning, actually. Then we drove across the street and into the parking lot of MGM, then left from there to the airport, and the display read FULL when we got to the airport (even though I did my traditional victory (!) lap through the hotel garage first, by taking the wrong turn before rental car return)
