Gas prices have been very strange lately. We live in a small city near a med sized city. Over the last few months, the med sized city has had a lot of fluctuations in gas prices, while our prices have remained very stable. Last Sat for instance, they jumped from $3.29 to $3.59. Just 18 miles away in our small city, the gas prices have fallen from $3.39 to $3.29 in the same period.
By the same token, our prices never got quite as low as theirs. I have to wonder if it isn't the station owners trying to raise the prices in the absence of any real events to cause fluctuation.
And last year, when I planned our USO/IOA trip, in March it looked like gas would be well over $4 a gallon for the summer and maybe as high as $5. We never saw that; I underspent the gas budget for that trip by over $100 (KY-FL-KY).
