Hi! I have a garmin 405...I would say it's probably around 3 years old. For the past 4-5 runs in a row, it seems to switch out of training mode, and go right the "sleep" screen (the screen where you get just the time) a little more than4 miles into the run. Then, when I try to click back to the training screen, the bezel doesn't respond to my touch at all. If I hit either the stop or reset buttons on the side, it watch doesn't respond to that, either.

I tried resetting it, and it didn't seem to help. Has anyone experienced this before on theirs? Any comments/suggestion/anything are definitely appreciated...I really don't want to have to send it away so I'm stuck without it completely for a month. Plus I'm in the market to upgrade to the 610 anyways, but that thing is on major back-order.

Thanks!

Have you called Garmin for any other help? They have been good with DW and her problems. Not the 405 though.

Yeah I tried calling last week and it wasn't very helpful (other than suggesting to restart it and then send it in). Didn't know if we had any techie smart ppl that might have some pearls of wisdom to share...thank you anyways!

I think that is the solution. Seems to be a recurring issue with friends who have the 405.. Friends who have had the issue sent them in. Cannot speak to the outcome other than all received working receivers.

I had to restart mine once, but other than that haven't had that issue. Do you lock the bezel while you're running? If not then sweat can cause it to get confused.

no i don't lock it...will it help? i restarted it and it made no difference.

but yeah....i do think sweat has something to do with it. it stopped working at first during a half marathon - but it was a sunny/humid day, and i was sweating/losing salt like crazy. then we had a heat wave, and my runs were in 80+ degrees...so obviously i was sweating, then too. the heat broke this past weekend, and my Garmin seemed to be ok on my long run (9 miles) and a normal run (5 miles) - which is the longest it has lasted since my hot race.

and i don't think i even sweat THAT much (especially on my wrist) but who am i kidding...everyone gets gross when running in high heat :lmao: any tips/ideas on how to keep it functioning?

i'm looking to upgrade to the 610...i hope it doesn't have the same issues as the 405!

I hope you have an answer and it works. My issue with my 405 (about the same age as yours) is that it got stuck in the GPS mode screen. I hadn't used it in a month or so (injury) and when I charged it to try to run again it got stuck on the GPS screen and wont' move off of it. It is now de charging again to see if when it's recharged we can get it to work.

Anyone with an idea for this one?
