I got a Garmin FR60 watch for Christmas...and I'm thinking of buying the Garmin foot pod so I can track pace and distance as well. I already have a Nike+ sensor...will this work with the Garmin watch...or do I have to buy the Garmin foot pod?

The answer is, maybe.

Turn you Nike pad on and keep it moving so it is sending a signal. At the same time go to the mannual set screen for pairing the receiver with a foot pod and switch it to seek out a pairing. If the Nike operates off of the ANT+ signal system it will attempt to pair.

In the mean time I will do a little more research. oh, I do know that I have paired garmin many non gamin devices.

From the Garmin end it should work. Nike is less than forthcoming on the net about pairing. There is a small FAQ question noting a special code the Nike pod puts out... But everything looks like the ANT+ signal.

Review page 5-8 of you manual and see if the Garmin will pickup the foot pod.

Another quick question...will the Nike+ sensor be less accurate than a Garmin sensor...or does that not really matter? Just trying to debate if it's going to be worth spending the $70 on the Garmin one.

Actually I am looking to possibly move the other direction and this research has been valuable. I would suggest that if you cannot pair with the Nike+ sensor in short order it may be worth the conversion to the Garmin anyway. I find it a little amazing that the Nike+ sensor is disposable. I would think that you could eventually get a payback on making the conversion now.

As far as more accurate, I would say either is as accurate as you are in you calibration techniques. Regardless of the pod, it is important to get out to a high school track and run a mile in calibration mode. Your goal is to run the mile in a nice comfortable pace and stride AND stay center lane, first lane.

Sa agin if you cannot get it to pair then off to the store. And with either version, you need to run a mile on a track to assure good calibration.
