Okay I just got my Garmin Forerunner 201 Yay! 
Now how the heck does a serial port cable work???? The part that's supposed to connect to my computer (a Gateway laptop) looks the same as my computer part. They both look like they receive pins but where o where are the pins?? I'm sooo confused. 
And should I try to protect those little gold disks where it connects to the receptor from my sweat? Will they corrode over time? Oh dear oh dear. And if I'm using the interval mode will it still record my workout? :
