I've been talking about having one for a few years, but this year everyone told me to go for it.
My grandpa tilled a spot in our back yard yesterday.
I don't know much about plants so I'll have to study up and keep weeds out.

But does anybody have any tips/advice?
Do you have a garden?
What was your favorite thing to grow?

I grow vegetables in my garden. Tomatoes are easy to grow, if you're looking for a starter vegetable. We've got tomatoes, cucumbers, and some other vegetables growing. For me, strawberries have been really difficult. You've gotta have 'em in a special pot, and it's taken me forever to be able to figure out to have them grow. It's nice having them grow though, since I love strawberries.

If you're growing something tall (tomato plants get kinda tall), make sure you get one of the circular fences to hold up the plant.

If you're planting flowers that you've bought from home depot or some place like that, make sure you gently break up the dirt that the flower comes with before you put it in the ground/pot. It helps the roots to spread.

We do, in my backyard.

We spent all day Saturday planting new flowers back behind the pool. My legs are killing me like mad today, because I was out there digging in the dirt for so long. :headache:

We have TONS of flowers. I know we've got roses and then some bulbs and some other annuals I can't remember the names of. And then we got this one plant, that has these flowers on it that are supposed to attract butterflies and hummingbirds. :cutie:

We've also got tomato plants, but you can't see them there. They're up against the wall by the back door.

OhDisco pretty much covered everything you'd need to know. Just be sure tho, when you're picking out the plants you want to get, that they'll survive where you're living (IE: can they survive the cold in the winter, heat in the summer, etc.) and that you have the right area to plant them in. Whether that be full sun, partial, shade, whatever else there is.

Good Luck! ^__^

I'm pretty good with flowers and stuff, so I don't think those will be a problem.
It'll mainly be for vegetables.

Ohdisco- Sorry I forgot your name. :headache: Thanks! I love strawberries so I might try planting those after I get the hang of everything.

Kylie, you have a beautiful backyard. Thanks!

We are doing one this year!!! If you have rabbits as a problem around ur house like if they will try to eat the plants....put marigolds around ur garden cuz they dont like marigolds. Idk why tho cuz they r pretty! lol! :)
