I am travelling with my mother for her birthday in Sept and I was thinking that this might be a nice afternoon stop. I quickly peeked at the menu and noticed a lot of fancy sandwiches on the menu. I will be travelling with a picky eater ( ok, me. ) and was wondering if you think they would make like a simple peanut butter sandwich or even a cream cheese sandwich if I requested it. :dance3:

The menu is kind of particular, to go with the experience. If you'd like to have tea, but don't want to rely on it for a meal, then have lunch elsewhere, and order your tea and accompying treats a la carte.

great idea! Thank you..

do you know if you can purchase the teas there to take home as well?

You get 5 of the tea sandwiches, one of each kind. I hate nuts, so our server switched those out for me with doubles of other types:) So I would think they would give you 5 of the same sandwich if you wanted;) BTW...it is a fabulous time!!!:thumbsup2

Yes, you can! But only there are the GF tea room. The Garden View blend is lovely and we brought some home:)

You can also skip the sandwiches all together. You can have scones, pastries, cheese plate, etc.

We have been to the tea a few times and will be going back in a few weeks with my DD, DMom, DAunt and moms DFriend.... my DD is highly allergic to nuts and doens't eat meat... they were very accomodating and made special sandwiches for her.... its truly a lovely event... not to be missed....

There are plenty of options besides the sandwiches; you don't need to have them at all. You can order pastries, trifle, strawberries and cream, and other items a la carte, or get one of the set teas that doesn't include sandwiches, like the Sally Lunn tea (my favorite).

My dds', my MIL and myself did the tea in February. The server said my dd (11) couldn't order the Mrs. Potts tea but could order the Buckingham palace but would be able to replace the regular sandwiches with peanut butter and jelly, ham and cheese and tuna. That's what she did and was very happy.

I really like the sandwiches that came with the Buckingham tea -especially and pear one.

How ong does the tea take? I am thinking we could go over right before MNSSHP? Would we look out of place if we wore a costume??? Thanks.

I'd save the tea for a day when you can take your time and enjoy it. It's an elegant, leisurely experience to be lingered over. I'm sure they could rush you through the service if you were in a hurry, but that's kind of not the point of doing the tea.

As for the costumes; that I'm not sure about. You see people in costume in the MK resort restaurants on MNSSHP nights, but I don't know that I'd wear one to the tea. I guess it depends on the costume. Again, it's a really elegant little room with lots of fine china, flowers, etc, and I'd feel out of place dressed as Pluto :lmao:. If I were dressed as a princess, or in Victorian garb, then it'd be a perfect fit.

1) I would *assume* they would let you in.
2) But, you will get stares and maybe some words from other guests.
3) This is not meant as a costume party.
4) It is a calm and sedate and relaxing and slightly sophisticated time.
5) But, this is just one person's opinion.

NOTE: Yes, you can see people in "park attire", but mainly in neatly pressed clothes. You will even see bridal shower or wedding rehearsal people, some who are quite well dressed. When we go, I do where Bermuda-length shorts, but always fresh and pressed.
