We've been to the Garden Grille for the Ice Cream Social but we've never had lunch or dinner there. If you have eaten here, how is it?

Hi cinmell,

This was one of our favorite meals at DIsney. We did this back in May of 2001 and I've already booked us for our trip this May.

If I recall everything is served family style. Everything is brought to the table. It is not a buffet where you have to serve yourself.

I believe we had flank steak, roasted chicken, some mashed potatos that were excellent, some veggies.

The best part was the strawberry shortcake. I had 2 of them. yummy. And I think you can get mac and cheese and some kids stuff if you need to.

We really enjoyed this meal and the character interaction was the best I thought.

My DH and I eat here each time and really enjoy it. With the revolving tables it is a nice usually quiet place to get away from the crowds for a while. The characters are great even though we have no children and the good is also great. The menu is flank steak, cat fish, chicken with bread stuffing, mashed potatoes with or without gravey, vegetables if I remember right and the desert is different depending on the time of year. Also, I think there is a salad to start with and delicious bread. All served to you in a frying pan with refills as often as you want and they will glady refill only certain items if you want. Also, last time we had the silver plan and they served us shrimp cocktail to start and it was fablous. We are already looking forward to a meal here in December.

We ate here in 2000 - there were 11 in our party including 5 kids all under 9. We had a section to ourselves - 2 or 3 tables. Everyone loved it. The food was great - served at the table, but you can eat as much as you like. Even managed to get the kids to eat catfish by telling them it was just 'fish'. :smooth:
The service was great too, and the characters visited our tables about 3 times I think, spending around 5-10 minutes each time.
It was a very relaxing character meal and my favourite bit was the bread with the maple butter - it was fantastic!!!!

Hi! The Grille was our favorite place for breakfast - food excellent, particularly breadstuffs, - service and characters great! Very disappointed they shut breakfast down. Bob

We love the Garden Grille. It was a most pleasant surprise 2 years ago when when we went. Now we want to go there each time!:D The character interaction was great--but , I think that seems to be true with Chip and Dale around! ;)

Finnie 468- also loved the breakfast before it was discontinued. Had never tried dinner before Dec. trip when I tagged along with my parents. We booked it for CP and it was fantastic!! Everything from start to finish was top-notch so we were stuffed by the time we left. Dessert then was a heavenly pumpkin cheesecake, but I could hardly touch it by that point.

This is a must do for our May trip!

We finally tried the Garden Grill recently and loved it. It is unlimited food and served at the table. They have turkey instead of roast chicken, flank steak, mashed potatoes and vegis. The pumkin cheesecake was great also!

We have PS for the Garden Grill for the first available seating for lunch. My DH is on a very low fat diet. Has anyone had any dietary restictions while dining here? How were you accomadated? Thanks to all!!!!

I'm suprised at the posts here. We just came back from our trip and found the Garden Grille by far the worst meal (food) we had. The flank steak was overcooked and tough. The catfish was good, but they don't give you much to begin with so ask for more. I was not impressed with the turkey either. The kids' food was the typical chicken fingers with french fries. I really wish the restaurants would come up with better kids' meal alternatives. Does everything have to be fried chicken/fish, hamburgers, hot dogs? You don't have to be too creative to find healthier alternatives that kids will eat.
The family style dining makes for a very crowded table with the serving platters, dishes, cups, etc.
On another note, the service was excellent and the characters were very interactive with the children. Mickey actually sat down with the kids and "ate" with them for a few minutes.

Although I did not do this in July, it is one of my Family's favorite meals. Alll the food we had was very good, and my DS could not get enough of those mashed potatoes! As much as I complain about the ice cream social, the full lunch is great!;)

Thank you for all of your replies! Would you recommend PS for lunch at the Garden Grille or is it the type of place you can just walk in without a long wait? We'll be there in May.
