My reservations are:
5:40- Either Garden Grill or Cape May Café
6:20-7:20 Soarin

So....my questions are
1. Should I choose Garden Grill or Cape May Café?
2. Will I make it to my Soarin FP+ with dinner reservations at 5:40?

Background: we have not been to either restaurant. We are the dining plan. We will have my parents with us for only this 1 day only. They are leaving the following morning. And, we have ressies at Tusker House during this trip, so we will see the characters then.

Is the food quality better at 1 over the other?
Is it too much of a hassle to leave the park for Cape May?
Will we make Soarin? This is a priority for my parents.
However, if CM is hands down better than GG, maybe we can schedule an earlier FP+ for Soarin. As of now, no later ones are available.

Advice welcome.

If Soarin is the priority best to stay at G Grill IMO. Thats a long walk walk for older folks anyway if in a hurry.

Wait a minute-your at the Dolphin, are you leaving your room and then walking right past the BC at that time of day?

No, we will be at POR. (although we are staying at the Swan in September. But we are not doing the dining plan for that trip, and will not have either of these restaurants on our agenda)

We will be in Epcot ALL DAY. so, I *could* move Soarin FP+ up.....but I was hoping to leave the 1st half of the day to touring world showcase.

I guess it is coming down to "which is better: Garden Grill or Cape May"?

I've been to both and both are good, but I have to give the edge to Garden Grill. When we went, Cape May only had characters at breakfast but maybe this has changed? It was worth going BUT Garden Grill IS BETTER!!! I mean, come on---a revolving restaurant? With Mickey to boot? Yep, we have been there a few times and it never got old! It is "Disney~ier" than Cape May for sure and right there at Epcot. I am a HUGE fan of Living with the Land ride, and you get to see so much of it during your meal---it is so unique and Mickey in those overalls? Come on! It's a great meal! :thumbsup2

ps---Soarin' is directly adjacent to GG! Your plans should fly!! =)

Definitely stick with GG. You just have to walk downstairs to get on Soarin. I would maybe keep trying to get a later Soarin FP though. You never know exactly when you'll be seated at a restaurant. If you have to wait a bit, you may be cutting it close and you don't want to have to rush a nice meal. :goodvibes

Honestly unless you are very fast eaters and don't care about seeing all the characters I would see that you will have a hard time getting to the beginning of the FP window- you should be able to just make it in. Personally I would go on Soarin earlier and enjoy an awesome meal at Cape May- I won't pay out of pocket but with the price it is one of the best deals on the dining plan.

Cape May is a "must-do" on every trip for us. However, given your FP time, that you've never been there, and the age of your kids, I would definitely do GG. It's much more of an experience - characters, good food, and the novelty of revolving through the different scenes.

Have fun! :thumbsup2

Cape May IMO is by far the best restaurant, but I would not take it expecting to get back to Soarin' in time.

It is very easy to walk there (or take boat - about same time wise) but you are clear across the park from Soarin' where you exit Epcot. It is no 'hassle' to get there, but your time constraints will be a problem.
