I have had many garage sales the last couple of years. Most of the items were baby/kids stuff, but I've also had other things. Decorations, nic-nacs, tools, misc. People sometimes say, oh you only have kids things....

So my question is - What are you looking for??

I have been clearing out my moms house and ours too. I have so much stuff. I would like to try and sell as much as possible, but if it's not worth it then I would donate some things. My next sale will be in September and I don't have room to store everything.

Do you want?
books
bath towels
blankets
pillows
cloths - men, women
coats
shoes
purses
holiday decorations
kitchen items
beanie babies
nic-nacs

kids stuff
toys
cloths
car seats
toddler entertainment things

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

towels, sheets and blankets can be donated to animal shelters or veterinary hospitals.

I usually look for kids clothes, toys, or books

My sister just sold her house. We had a two day sale. Books, toys all children's clothes and accessories were greatly in demand. Kitchen gadgets (new) also went quickly. Pretty much the nick nacks remained.

I like books and I am on the lookout for exercise, Stephen King, or cookbooks.

I want DVDs or CDs. I usually get those at the Flea Market for 2.50.

I like garden stuff and my dh likes tools/garage stuff.

We are looking for a queen bedroom set.

That is about it.

We normally only go to the Flea Market to shop for stuff these days, since the Flea Market carries a lot of what we want.

I personally look for stuff like Pampered Chef, name brand cookbooks, kids name brand clothes, and series books for the girls. Plus it has to be from a non-smoking home since with both have breathing issues.

Books, vases, Legos, Playmobil, towels in good shape, craft stuff

We are always looking for : video games, dvd's, books.

I always peek at clothing too, but don't buy it too often, unless there is something the family needs.

Oh, and Legos too!

Books, holiday decorations, scrapbooking supplies, anything disney related, gardening things, dvds.

Kid stuff and furniture. The rest is all the stuff I'M trying to get rid of too! :lmao:

Since I'm a new homeowner I look for furniture pieces. My son is always looking for DVD stuff. I also look for things to resell on eBay.

I run screaming from Kids yard sales but they're the most common. Lately on Craigslist some of the ads say "no kids crap"...those of the ones I go to.:thumbsup2

You would be surprised at how many men come to our sales! We had a box of old tools someone gave us (hammers, screw drivers etc), and I put it out at the sale for $1.00 per tool. We sold every one. It looked like a bunch of junk to me. :confused3

We get men asking for fishing stuff, hunting stuff, stereo equipment...

We sold a lot of childrens books in our sale.

It helps to put fancy tags on things. I had some really old light fixtures from my dad's house, and no one did more than glance at them. After 2 days I made a sign that said "vintage light fixtures." All the sudden everyone was stopping to look at them, and I sold both boxes. :rotfl:

A lot of men will look for old tools and sporting equipment.
Also, sometimes people think that if they're getting something that may be valuable for nothing, then they'll buy it. Even if they really don't want it. That's why adding "vintage" to a sign attracts people. A lot of people think that vintage/antique = valuable.

We've needed to have a yard sale for several years. Unfortunately, I can't do it all by myself. I have loads of movie posters and pins (from video/dvd releases), loads of old vhs movies (which most wouldn't sell now), some old cd's and a bunch of other junk. My dad has tons of junk. He doesn't even know what all he has. The house is full.

Now to only get some time and some help.

Yea the VHS movies are now down to 25 cents now.

You can still sell the First edition Disney movies because people want the old movie jackets (the nice plastic ones). Esp. "Little Mermaid", for obvious reasons.;)

I am kind of a picky yard sale shopper, only after certain things, and I won't pick up "stuff" just to buy "stuff". However, I guess most people are picky too, it just depends on your definition of junk/treasures. Anyhow, when I shop, I am looking for...

*Books, but only certain ones, by certain authors, to complete series or collections
*Old kid's Disney books - I collect these. Anything that was novel-ized by Disney in the 50's, 60's or 70's - novel adaptations of the movies, "Annette" adventures, etc. Also old Disney comic books.
*DVDs, but again, only certain ones I know I am looking for.
*Kids' clothes, in sizes my kids wear, ESPECIALLY Gymboree or Disney store. But it can't be priced too expensive, unless it is fairly new looking.
*Plus-sized ladies clothes, in sizes I wear :flower3:
*Anything that came from WDW or Disneyland, provided its still in decent shape
*Jewelry, if its of my taste. I am a sucker for handmade, earthy looking jewelry - looks like its made of polished rocks, mother-of pearl, etc.
*Scrapbooking supplies, IF its a good deal. If I can buy it cheaper on sale at JoAnn's, no thanks.

That's about it. I won't buy much else. I never buy VHS, or knick-knacks. No holiday junk (goodness knows I have enough of THAT crap of my own LOL) or random pillows or toys or pictures to hang on the wall. I have a really small house, and as my husband is fond of pointing out, WAY more than enough crap of my own. :confused3

My husband thinks the things that I am always looking for are totally wierd:

-craft supplies (fabric, nice yarns, vintage lace, ric rac and doilies, quilting books, half finished embroidery projects or kits)
-Singer Featherweight sewing machine (my garage sale fantasy is finding a -cheap one from someone who doesn't know what a treasure they have! LOL)
books
-fisher price little people (especially the old ones)
-textiles (vintage pillowcases and sheets in good conditions, embroidered table runners, lace tablecloths, quilts)
-old tins like cookies and chocolates came in
-old pocketbooks with nice handles that I can take off and use on new bags that I am sewing
-vintage clothes made out of cotton fabric that have cool retro patterns (for cutting up and using in craft projects)

Things I buy at yard sales include baby/toddler clothes, books, supplies for my classroom (storage containers, kids' books, etc), purses, shoes.

I don't really buy knick knacks or clothing.

I'm always on the look out for Longaberger baskets. I've bought about 4 or 5 at yard sales. I look for hand made quilts too. I can't beleive some of the things people sell.

I have a few large bags of towels, sheets and blankets. I called our local animal hospital and they are in need, so I am going to drop them off tonight.

I will try to sell the 3-4 boxes of book, plus about 2 boxes of kids books. What doesn't sell, i'll donate to our schools.

Can I ask about how much you would pay for books. Hard cover, cookbooks, kids books?
