First,I thought I must be forgeting to close them! So,I have been paying very close attention to making sure they're closed EVERYTIME I use them. This morning,I go out to the garage
and both bays are wide open!!!!!! WHAT IS GOING ON!!!! They're
remote controlled doors. Could someone in my neighborhood
be opening my doors with their remote?????

VERY FUNNY FRIENDS I HAVE!!!!!! My friend thought it would be a kick to take my (extra) remote and occasionally drive by and open my doors!!!! PAY BACK is going to be sweet.....

they certainly could..either accidentally or intentionally..when I was a teenage My neighbors installed a garage opener....their teenage son would ride around town with the remote trying to open other garage doors........with newer cars that have openers included..there are a lot more cars driving around with them increasing the odds of prankster teenagers......

it could also be a neighbor accidentally opening it when they open theirs..

I used to have that problem when I lived in PA long ago. We could only determine that it had something to do with the airplanes flying overhead. We lived not far from an airport and the flight path for many of the planes went over our house from time to time. Occasionally the garage door would open when they did -- maybe on the same frequency?

I even had the problem that it would close on my car when I was going in and out (and there were NO planes)! Scraped and tore the heck out of my hard vinyl top of my '68 Mustang! That was before they had the safety sensors as a feature.

I've also heard that bad batteries can make remotes work strangely...on their own...

My dad's garage door opener used to open someone elses garage too. It used to really amuse him to drive by their house and open their garage door. I thought it was kind of funny too because it was my biologoy teacher's house.

The switch in our garage door remote started to go bad. Whenever we hit a bump in the road, it would activate the opener. This was a particularly strong remote and on at least a couple of occasions, the door was triggered "mysteriously" when we were at least half a block from home. If we were driving away from our house, we wouldn't see the door opening.

A buddy at work was able to rework the switch using some parts scavenged from an electrical relay. I would take your remote and shake it to see if the door opens without pressing the button.

Our swimming pool light is on a remote, when we turned it on or off, it would open or close our neighbors garage and his garage remotes would turn out light on or off. He had to get a different frequency programmed into his garage opener (we had the pool first and could not change the frequency). Also, baby monitors cna sometimes cause the same problem. Most likely, it is a neighbors garage remote. BTW, changing the "code" will not work.

LOL! NOT funny! My folks used to have touble with airplanes sometimes opening the door, but that was years ago.

But,I have to wait awhile cuz I know she would suspect me. Maybe a little bubble bath in her pool!!!!

NO NO NO that would be very bad for the filter and could end up costing a lot to fix. At least you found out and nothing was "borrowed" from your garage.
