Hi Everyone,

My niece wants game boy advance games for her game boy for Christmas. She is 6 and in first grade so I don't want to get anything too young for her but nothing with reading that would be too old for her either.

My 7 year old son has games but I wanted something geared more for girls. I have no idea what 6 year old girls are into! :confused3

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!!

I've bought my five year old a Dora the Explorer Secret Spies game and a Strawberry Shortcake game, neither of these require any reading. My dd-7 is getting a Robots(from the movie) game, a Spongebob game and a Pac-Man variety game. They should be able to switch back and forth. Hope this helps.

My daughter is 9, but she's never played video games until this year... and all the ones I list here are the ones that my 5 year old likes to play too even if they are girlie. LOL
Disney Princess
Lilo and Stitch
Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen horse back riding
Finding Nemo
Monsters Inc

I think Amazon has the Finding Nemo and Monsters Inc. games in a bundle for around $29.

My DD 7 has some of the Barbie games-the horse one is good if they make it for the GBA. I just purchased her the Charlotte's Web game for Christmas.

If she has a Advance (and not a DS) there is Snow White game that was out for the Game Boy Color that she might really like. You can probably only find this used (ebay or game store) but it is a really cute game that will play on the GBA (but unfortunately not on the DS :sad2: )

Yes- it is an "Advance" model- not the DS.

Thanks for the recommendations and keep em coming!! :thumbsup2

My dd got a GBA for Christmas when she was 6. The games she got with it then were
  • Kim Possible
  • Hot Wheels racing
  • Pac Man
Added to that collection between then and now are
  • Chronicles of Narnia
  • Magical Quest 2 w/ Mickey & Minnie
  • Kim Possible 2
  • Lilo & Stitch

For our trip down to Disney and as a christmas present from a grandparent she's getting
  • Legend of Zelda Four Swords
  • Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire.

I asked her opinion of the games that she has which she thought a 6yo girl who's reading skills maybe weren't strong would enjoy the most and she thought about it and said "Mickey's Magical Quest 2 or Pac Man" So there's the opinion of an 8 1/2 yo girl. There are also a lot of the 'classic' nintendo games available for GBA that are fun like Super Mario Brothers.

My dd loves her "Dora's World Adventure" and I think the other one is "Hello Kitty Happy Party Pals" or something like that.

At 7 my niece was into the Bratz games and Lizzie Maguire. She loved them and there were quite a few titles available. At 10, now it's probably the Cheetah girls and Hannah Montana. HTH.

My niece is 7 and she loves the Barbie games for her Gameboy. There are several Barbie games and they all seem well made and fun to play. I actually stay away from most of the Disney games, I've gotten them before for my niece and she never seems to play them very long. For some reason Disney doesn't come out with the best Gameboy or PC games, I'm not sure why, but many times we've been disappointed in them.

My friend's daughter has GBA .. she has Disney Princess (loves it), Finding Nemo, Lilo and Stitch and some of the Pokemon games. I think her favorite though are the Spyro games, he's a purple dragon who goes around collecting gems and bonking bad guys.. it's really cute and geared toward kids.

She also loves some of my games, tetris, Egg Mania - a puzzle game, Super Mario 1, 2 and 3 (I think 2 is called Mario Worlds though) and Mario Kart.

She also likes Kingdom Hearts (a Disney game) for the Playstation, and has noticed there is a version for GBA.. she doesn't have it though.

I guess my reccomendation that hasn't been said by everyone else would be Spyro!!

As I mentioned before and someone pointed out above, the Barbie games are really good.

I thought the Barbie movies would be really bad and they are actually pretty good.

There must be someone who knows what they are doing at the company that makes all the Barbie stuff.

Whenever I have to pick out games for someone I always ask the salesperson at Gamestop. They have never led me astray. They can tell you if something is appropriate for each age. I figure that if they work there they have probably played every game available!!

Good Luck :thumbsup2
