DCL web site shows guest ashore as 8:00am. Do all guests need to disembark by 8:00am or can it be later? We have done this very thing before but I cannot remember!!

Thanks for sharing.

Pretty sure Galveston will be like most other debarkation ports - out of your room by 8:00, off the ship by 9:00. Remember, they need time to turn over the ship for those new cruisers that are chomping at the bit to get onboard as early as possible.

We just got off the Dream and they really are keen to have everybody out by 9 like PrincessShmoo says. No stowaways! If only!

Just like the OP will be when it is their boarding day! :)

Of course! Just trying to determine a shuttle pick-up time and return flights home. As I mentioned, we have sailed out of Galveston previously, but I cannot remember the disembarkation timing.

Have you guys ever seen that show on TV where they followed cruise employees around at the port and on the ship? At the port, they filmed passengers being denied boarding due to missing credentials, etc. On board they filmed the guest services supervisor taking care of all sorts of issues. And, finally, on disembarkation, they showed some people just hanging out in the lobby and on other areas of the ship trying to squeeze out every last possible second of their cruise! It was actually pretty funny. They finally showed the supervisor getting the "all clear" meaning every passenger was finally gone and then they started all over again.

Staying on as a stowaway is not my intent. :) Making flight reservations home two days before Christmas is what I need to accomplish, and I want to ensure we aren't, hopefully, sitting in the airport for too many hours. Thanks again!

We were on the 6 night sailing that returned on the 24th. Give yourselves plenty of time to gather your luggage. We were concierge and the line to disembark was all the way aft and above and below deck. We left the ship when the luggage claim areas were opened, along with a very large group of folks who had done express walkoff. We were in a royal and not happy.

Bummer, did you let DCL know? I've done it my last 3 times and we were the first one off on the Fantasy.

I am pretty sure that I saw the same show that you described. If I remember this was about Royal Caribbean.

We're sailing out of Galveston after Thanksgiving but have only sailed out of PC before. Is the luggage pickup as well organized as at PC? That would have an impact on time for your shuttle and airline ressies. I'd rather spend a little longer at the airport than risk missing my flight, especially that close to Christmas.
