My family and I are volunteering this weekend for the Give a day, Get a Day program... I just receive our reminder email and this was the message posted at the bottom...

On Feb. 11, it was announced that 600,000 volunteers have already participated in the Give A Day. Get A Disney Day. program. Thanks to the exceptional programs and opportunities provided by the thousands of participating organizations, it's anticipated that the goal of celebrating one million volunteers will occur very soon. We will not be posting new opportunities or occurrences for the future as we are winding down the program.

This may not be new news to you, but it was to me. Glad I got in when I did. If you haven't signed up yet and want a chance, I would do it ASAP.

I also recieved an email stating that the program is winding down and to get my blankets in ASAP so that I will still be eligible. I just signed up on Monday and put my date in as 3/21. We will be completing our blankets this weekend and sending them in soon so we don't lose out on the opportunity.

I wonder if they will reassess at some point! I am glad I did mine early for Sept! I don't think they anticipated hitting a million - especially so quickly!

Just an FYI: My porject linus didn't verify until my due date. I got the impression that they couldn't verify until the system had shown that your volunteer date had passed.

How can a person change their due date? My due date is April 16 which was picked by the computer as being 60 days from the time I registered but I just mailed off my blankets yesterday and I know they will be there no later than Monday coming.

Yes you can change your due date. You just have to log in and there is an option to edit or remove volunteer activity.

We just sent ours on Monday. I think we still had 30 days left on our due date. I hope they don't end this with people still signed up!
I'm still happy that I "gave a day" but I probably wouldn't have done something out of state if I wasn't going through this program.

I just posted a thread about this on the GAD thread.

I received voicemail this morning from someone that works at a local children's museum and she mentioned she had received a message from Disney saying they were closing it off *tomorrow*. Her point to calling me was to let me know and to register so we wouldn't lose out. We have already registered, volunteered and received our three vouchers so we're all set, however I'd hate for anyone else to lose the opportunity. She stated you only needed to register by tomorrow and that you did not have to have your volunteering done by tomorrow.

I can't validate the info, but she did just leave me this message today and others are clearing hearing something as well.

I hope this helps someone!
Thanks,
Heather

As long as you are signed up to do a volunteer service you would still get a ticket if it was completed. So if you signed up for a project that is not going on for a month and they run out of tickets tomorrow as long as you complete the project you are good. You can also change the due date on the Linus project. I did and got my ticket within a few days.

We have already rec'd our vouchers but I, too, was told today by the person that arranged our volunteer service that she tried to list another opportunity and was told by Disney that it was "finished" meaning she could not list anymore volunteer work. She said that everyone who is registered should still get their vouchers provided they complete their service-again I can't validate this either but it seems to be the consistent response!

Just to restate.
If you have already signed up for a project and have been confirmed they have counted you as part of that 600,000. You are guaranteed your vouchers. It doesn't matter if your activity isn't until next month.

So can you still sign up today and be assured of getting vouchers? I've tried to sign up twice before but I've never received the email from the organization.

Thanks.
