I have recently been diagnosed with primary hypertension. My doctor has suggested that I use a GAC during my August trip. Has anyone had any positive experiences? Thanks in advance.

GAC's are not given for diagnoses. What assistance if any do you need?

My doctor is concerned that the crowds could trigger additional stress. I originally struggled with this, but came to the conclusion that my health is more important than stares.

I would like to suggest you read the GAC info in the sticky at the beginning of this thread. There is not a GAC for crowds or to skip lines. The best way to do that is to use a good touring plan and fastpass. A good touring plan will keep you out of the crowded areas of the park.:thumbsup2

I agree with livndisney.
A good touring plan will help a lot more than a Guest Assistance Card could.

The most recommended touring plans right now are on touringplans.com

Not only would a GAC not be a help to you (that I can see,) there will be rides WDW does not recommend for people with high blood pressure--basically anything fast or jerky has warnings against riding. You probably need to also check the ride descriptions in the FAQs at the top of this thread to see what rides would best be avoided.

With that said, there is a lot that you can do. A lot of research, fastpasses and a good touring plan are your friends!! The more you know, the better time you will have. A GAC will not speed up your ride access and will often make it actually take more time. I'm speaking from experience on these issues.

I was going to add information about attractions that are not recommended for guests with high blood pressure, but Piper beat me to it. I can't post a list right now, but will add one later or you can find a list in the disABILITIES FAQs thread.
I'm sure your doctor would want you to avoid those attractions if your blood pressure is such a big concern.
Those 'thrill rides' are usually the ones with the longest lines, so avoiding those will help you shorten your waits.

I am going to close this thread now since your question was answered.
