GAC and moving walk ways at the end of ride?

Hello everyone.

If I get on a ride and let the CM know that I need the moving walk way slowed down or stopped, do they know to do it at the end as well. I know prior to getting on I can say something, but I don't want to spend the entire vacation on an endless loop in the haunted mansion :scared1:

Not that I think it would be the case, I am just wondering if it is up to me to flag someone down at the end or will they already know?

In order to get the moving walkway slowed or stopped, you need to board at the wheelchair boarding area. For rides without moving walkways, that would be the regular boarding area, but for those with moving walkways, it will usually be the exit (after waiting in line).
When you get on, the CM will 'mark' the ride car so that they know a guest with a special need is in that car. Then they can slow or stop it when you get out.

If you have a wheelchair, ECV, walker or some other very visible mobility aid, the CMs will automatically route you to that entrance. For other conditions, you will need a Guest Assistance Card (GAC). There is more information about GACs in post #6 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread near the top of this board.
Post #3 of that board has some other information that may be helpful, including a past thread discussion about attractions with moving walkways.

3 attractions to be aware of:
Peter Pan can be slowed, but not stopped and many people find it is a challenging attraction to get on because the ride cars don't allow much place to hold on.
Tomorrowland Transit Authority boards and unloads on a second floor station. To get up and down requires a moving walkway that can't be slowed or stopped.
Pirates has a steep moving walkway at the exit. There is also an elevator to the left of the moving walkway.

My husband and I were on the Finding Nemo ride in the Living Seas in EPCOT (I don't remember the name as we have not been back). We had it stopped to get on, but when we were to get off, it was slowed but not stopped. The CM at the end stated the ride is not to be stopped, and the CM who initially stopped it in the beginning will be punnished. Well, my husband would not have gotten on if it could not be stopped, but the CM absolutely refused to stop it. My husband got off and stumbled into a wall (I believe he would have fallen if the wall was not there). We spoke to a manager afterwards to ensure the initial CM would not be punnished, and he stated he would re-educate the second CM. The ride should be stopped, but I wanted to share my story to just let you know mistakes are made, and to be clear about your needs when you get on. Have a great trip!

Thanks for asking this! I have balance issues and I did not know that some of the rides had moving walkways  Now I need to figure out what to do!

Keep in mind that the moving walkways can be slowed and you have a good amount of space (usually) to get on the ride. We had no problem getting on any ride with a moving platform as they slowed it way down and in one case (Haunted Mansion) even stopped it. You may have to wait a bit longer since they try to slow the ride down as little as possible and will sometimes group people who need more time together. It made it easier for us and less disruption for the other riders.

Good to know. My mom almost fell on Haunted Mansion and Spaceship Earth. She was too stubborn to ask for assistance. We had to support her by holding on to her arms.
