I just received this email from Disney (those of you getting married in the near future, will probably get it as well)

More Sales Tax How annoying!!!


Greetings,

We have recently received notice that the Orange County Resort Sales Tax will be increasing from 11.5% to 12.5%. This increase will go into effect on September 1, 2006. In an effort to provide your guests with the most up-to-date information, we will be changing the resort rates on the accommodations page of your Wedding Website to reflect this new tax.

I just got the same thing! As if people aren't doing enough to get to our wedding, now they have to pay even more than they thought! It's terrible.

Got that too. At least its a county tax...and not a tax that Disney raised.

My guests had already booked their rooms and 1 couple phoned up to pay the balance today found out that they had increased the prices.

I didnt get this email otherwise i would have imformed my guests previously! Thankfully its only $2.68 a night approx for our hotel (YC).

I haven't received any e-mail as of today. Does that affect the actual wedding prices as well or just the hotel stays? Thanks... NJ just upped their sales tax also and it's so frustrating... every penny counts these days and it seems like we just can't get ahead sometimes... argh....

It only impacts the resort tax and excludes the All Star resorts (as I understand it) as they are in another county and already have a different tax basis.
