The Unofficial Guide to DL 2008 by Bob Sehlinger is much improved over the 2007 version, and it's 90 pages longer.

It lists Disboards.com as one of the Best Discussion Boards.

The dining section is greatly improved, with restaurant reviews and ratings. And the hotel section now includes more information about the three DLR hotels, as well as more information about the non-Disney hotels.

The new 2008 edition now includes a list of the "Walking Times to the Theme-park Entrances" for the 27 hotels that the author considers to be in walking distance. It lists "average" times in minutes. The closest DLR hotel was the GCH at 4:00. The closest non-Disney hotel was the Tropicana Inn & Suites at 6:15. And it listed the walking times to the HoJo and CCI at 10:15 and 10:30 respectively; so the times seem about right. The hotel with the longest walk time, that made the list, was the Sheraton Park Hotel on Harbor Blvd., at 17:00 minutes.

IMO, the guide is geared too much to the "Ride Warrior," and the information about the Character Meals needs to be improved. And the DL map still doesn't list "Aladdin's Oasis" in Adventureland. But for $11 this guide provides plenty of good and reliable information for the newbie.

Good to hear. I still like reading my 2001 guide when I get ready for my trips. It reminds me about what has changed. I do find the hotel section a bit lacking, so it is nice to hear they beefed it up a bit.

The 2001 went to press before DCA opened, so it talks about all the rides, but does not rate them because they were not open at press time.

It also still has Rocket Rods.

I love the WDW version the most but its by far my favorite of all the guides. Do you know of any other guides other than birnbaums for D'land or D'World?

Passporter has a DL guide, but I'm waiting for the updated version. Not sure when it's supposed to be out.

Hopefully they corrected the error that said that FNSV had FP.

as i recall their website stated March/April '08?

i have an '06 version of UG/DL - it's very outdated; not a very long shelf life lol.
Qanyone know if Park Vue was included in the '08 edition, not mentioned in the '06 or Passporter. Econogude '07 gives it a nod.

Oh, I'll have to look for it. I had been disappointed by the one I got for my 2005 trip, so I'll have to check this one out to see if it's worth picking up. I love the unofficial guide to wdw

Per the Passporter Website:
Title: PassPorter's Disneyland Resort and Southern California Attractions 2008
Format: Spiral, Deluxe, and Refill
Availability: January/February 2008 (pre-orders will open in fall 2007)
Thanks for checking:thumbsup2 , know they've had delays with printers in the past on other books; so i just picked up a discounted copy last month.

Dangermouse - indeed u r right! The DIS is the real best-kept secret. Speaking of secrets, I'm a travel junkie & over-compulsive planner:rolleyes1 , I savour a good guidebook.

Used Sehlinger's UG to WDW for my very first WDW trip last month. It's thick and took precious space of my bag, but it's very comprehensive, funny, and the touring plans worked like wonders

I wrote to Bob Sehlinger in 2006, asking for "more love for the UG to DL!" (I think my best line was "What happened to the rest of the book??") and got the following response:

Hi Mary Kaye,

Thanks for writing. I agree with you completely. The publisher has constrained us from doing the things you mention by imposing a limit on the number of pages in the book. I get a lot of letters and emails just like yours and pass them all along to the publisher. It's too late for the 2007 edition that goes to press in a couple of weeks, but the publisher is finally getting the message and I think we'll be allowed to enlarge the 2008 edition of Disneyland and add a whole new dining section.

All the best,

Bob.

I've yet to pick up my '08 Guide, but I'm looking forward to it.

:woohoo: found one on eBay! can't believe someone would sell their copy already?

less than 1/2 price, even with the S&H; now if it would only get here.
