I know some people have complained about trash left in the halls outside guests' rooms at DVC resorts. I just learned that it's not necessarily the fault of the guests in that room. Last week, at BCV, I came back to my room one day to find a huge bag of garbage right outside my door. I figured mousekeeping had left it for a short period of time. No, it was still there the next morning. Meanwhile, I wonder how many people walked by my room and thought, as I've heard here, "Those terrible guests, leaving that huge bag of garbage outside their room". So please, don't automatically blame that room when you see garbage by a door.

I wrote about this issue on these boards a couple of years ago when that happened to us. On T&T day, we came back to our room at the BCVs to find OUR garbage in the hall, left there by Housekeeping.

I DID call down to housekeeping and it was removed promptly. Yes, I "COULD" have taken it down the hall myself, but when it is someone else's fault, I will not be an enabler.

I know one time I saw that the housekeepers left the garbage outside the rooms in the morning but later in the day someone else came back and picked them all up. So I guess it's someone else's job to "pick up" and obviously they didn't do it. It is unsightly, they should do pickups more often.

Well, that is a new low. Someone leaving their garbage outside someone else's door!

Like Pinnie and Debbie, I've seen our garbage out on T&T day obviously after the mousekeeper and before whomever picks it up gets there. I've not seen it be a huge problem though or left very long.

But that is why I cringe when I read posts bragging about hanging garbage on doors. First of all, it was probably housekeeping who put it there and secondly worse case it could be some miscreant like Simba Mom's "neighbor."

Do unto others....

Not only unsightly, but attractive to vermin :crazy2:

Looks like we can partially blame housekeeping for smelly hallways then. Not just moms of kids in diapers. Smelly garbage = stink. Doesn't matter who puts it in the hallway. I don't recall reading about housekeeping being lazy with trash in our DVC docs. :earboy2:

I saw on another post sometime past it would cost about 2 cents per point on dues to have life guards at OKW.

Why not have 1 cent per point to have a garbage patrol twice a day. It may not even cost that much.

No more money needs to be assessed against DVC members. We ALREADY pay to have our garbage picked up. What we need are more efficient cast members--most are really good, but the last time at BW, the guy kept bothering the housekeepers instead of doing his job picking up garbage.

Sounds like there is already one at BWV. What I had meant was someone actually picking it up.

I've seen the pickup artistic at Pop Century at the food court. Spent more time talking to the cleanup ladies than cleaning up.Where's management when needed?

When I bought at BWV in 99, my guide explained to me about T&T and full cleanings. When I asked him about trash piling up in the room he said you can either take it to the trash and recycling room yourself or set it out in the hallway.

Please don't blame me for the smelly mess i have only set my trash out once in the morning while rushing out to make ADR for breakfast ( too early of a moring leaving PI. or too late leaving PI).
Any way that may also be the reason for trash in the hallways because some people may have been told to do it.

It's quicker just to leave your garbage at the neighbor's door instead of hauling all the way to the trash closet.

Just kidding.... :teeth:

AJR, it is a shame that your guide told you to do this. But in your title it appears you are telling others to do the same?

Anyway, please don't do it again. Better to have it sit in your trash can in your unit until you return from your breakfast than to make the hall messy for everyone.

In response to some other posts, at BCV it is not like the bags are out for hours. In the case of Simba's Mom, since it wasn't housekeepers who put it there I imagine it is safe to assume that housekeeping was finished in her area before some idiot left it there. :earseek:

I was being sarcastic. Was anyone else told to put their trash outside the door?

Lets just make it easy for everyone. If you don't want it in your room, take it to the trash/recycle room. I hope most of us would just put it in the trash.
