FYI: Price increase at CRT

1) We eat very few sit-down (table service) meals at WDW anymore.
2) Occasionally, but not often.
3) However, we do eat a counter service daily, as we have our favorites.
4) We just find better food value off-site.

NOTE: I am sorry, but I won't pay $33-35 per person for breakfast or lunch.

While Disney may see it as just a few more dollars, for many it might make it worth going offsite to eat. I know there are a lot of times we will go back to the hotel and eat (stuff we brought with us) in order to save money.

Personally, I think its getting greedy to increase the rate just because it is Thanksgiving and Christmas. Bah Humbug!

I was told by multiple CMs that there are going to be special holiday food offererings along with these periods. No specifics but 4 different CMs told me the same thing.

I'm not trying to be smart in any way but how would they make breakfast time meals special for the holidays? Dinners maybe holiday type food but I don't see how breakfast could be changed that much?!

Just an FYI, I pulled up an old planning sheet of mine from 2004, our dinner for 4 at Chef Mickeys I had figured at $94.50 (I include the tax & 18% tip when I figure it, 3A, 1C). This year I have it figured at $121. That is quite a jump.

My DH & I are DVC owners and own a timeshare "offsite" (within 10 min. of WDW) and I will tell you that we will be preparing some of our meals at the resort. We will not give Disney the big bucks for mediocre food. Since they have offered Magical Express (brilliant idea, btw) they have a lot of their guests captive so they must eat on property. We have decided that we will always rent a car in the future to eat off property when we want.

After our last trip, I wrote to Disney about the bus transportation and told them that since the inception of ME, they had the obligation to their guests to provide prompt, efficient transportation (bus, monorail, boat) to the parks as well as other resorts. Our bus service was not good and the bus drivers were downright surly in some cases.

All I can say is that for those of us who visit 2-3 times a year and have for the last 10-15 years, it is disheartening to be nickel and dimed just to feed Disney's bottom line. When you are getting exemplary service, etc., it doesn't hurt so much but that hasn't been the case in the last few years.

I'll get off my soapbox now by saying we still love WDW but just want it to be "all that it can be".:)

I'm glad we have a lot of character meals planned for July & October because after that we'll have to cut back a lot. No way am I paying $22.99 for breakfast at Chef Mickey's! And CRT,well, it didn't really appeal to us before and it sure isn't now. I guess we'll stick to our the character meals whose prices didn't go up.
