We just got back from DL and found this to be a great convenience w/our kids. At the end of mainstreet by the sign w/ the waittimes for different rides, there is a CM who seems to be standing around doing nothing. Well, that person is there to do a one-time measure of kids for a color armband. The color then determines what rides the kids are tall enough for. Each ride had color coded signs in front. My "big kid" was so proud of his orange band that he showered with it every day there. My little one was happy to get a yellow allowing her on Matterhorn (bad choice at age of 2 but that's another story). I would really recommend using it so you don't have to guess on each ride who can go on or not. ENJOY!

I've heard about this, it sounds great. So much easier than getting measured at each ride where some CM's let kids on and others don't (if they're a hair shorter than the measuring stick). This way you know right off.

What a great addition! Now if WDW would adopt the same policy! It would certainly cut down on the measuring hassles guests go thru time and time again!

The sign at the measurement site said it was a system that Disney is "testing out" for future use. I assume that would mean all the parks.
The system itself was pretty neat, consisting of a wand and a pole behind them (infrared measurement). The pole then lit up w/ the color corresponding to their armband. My kids thought it was cool.
We had several families ask where we got the bands so hopefully more people will use so it's available in the future!

That sounds as if it would be a more accurate measurement than the *stick* method. I can't tell you how many times we've had to tell the CM that if the base of the stick isn't FLAT on the ground, they aren't getting an accurate measurement! It's amazing how big a difference that seemingly little detail can make! Not to mention that apparently not all sticks are created equal!

That sounds like such a great idea. I'm sure my dd will be thrilled if they are doing this when we go! :D

I am glad they are using this system. I wonder if they just implemented it? We were there about a week ago, and didn't see that person. I did see the arm band reference over at CA though. My son is 46" inches exactly (without shoes) and didn't have any problems on Indy (was measured, etc. with success) until the final time he went to ride. An older female CM stopped him just as we were preparing to load. She measured him with her stick perched on an uphill grade:mad: Yah, I guess when you do that, he's not tall enough. It was near closing time and my husband thinks the CM was just looking to get through the line at hand and off work early. I am glad there is a new system, so that you know up front, rather than based on the discretion of each CM.
