i just wanted to inform anyone else who may have booked the Wild Africa Trek that even if you were told there was no DVC discount during your stay, this was incorrect. I booked for all 5 of us for our June trip. I took the afternoon trek to save some $$$$$. I then instructed the individual at the 1-800 number that I was a DVC member and he told me there was no discount.

A few days later I called DVC and the nice CM said this was incorrect and put me on hold. She then came back and said it was only good for March through April in which I stated that it doesn't state that on the website. She apologized and said this must be so they can get more people to call.

I ended my call with this very nice CM but I was a little upset so I emailed DVC since I felt this was false advertising of our benefits. I received a phone call within 15 minutes of hitting send and the next nice CM said this was a programming error and that the benefit is good year around. I have been credited with a Disney gift card for my 15% discount.

Again this is a FYI post, not a complaint.

Thanks for sharing - please be sure to post back with your review of the experience. It sounds like a lot of fun!

We did this last year, it was a total blast!! There was some weird twist to the member discount, if I remember correctly, members could get the discount on afternoon tours but not morning (when it's cooler unfortunately). Hopefully they changed that. Have a great time!

The normal discount is now about a $52 discount per person if you book the afternoon (after 11 vs. morning). Then I got the DVC 15% on top of that. For 5 of us if we had done the morning it would have been $1000, with taking the afternoon plus the DVC we are at a total cost of $628. It includes a meal so I just cancelled our O'hana breakfast to to balance out the cost!

Thank you for posting. This is awesome! I have always wanted to do this one. My children are too young, so this will have to be a date morning for my husband and I sometime.

NEVERMIND, I see the $52 savings the OP mentioned is this exact PROMO..
Please disregard.. sorry..

Question?, I see that on the disney website they are having a promo, do we get the DVC 15% on top of the $50 off?

Yes! The afternoon is a deal for everyone and then they honored the 15% discount too!

We did this tour back in July 2015 and it as just FABULOUS! We booked afternoon, which was cheaper (and you didn't get the DVC discount for that if I recall...but I could be wrong) and we had a great time. They took so many great photos and our guides were just outstanding. We've done a few tours over the years and this ranked near the top!

Have a GREAT time!

I would like to book this for my daughter's bday, to get the DVC discount should I call DVC to reserve or do I have to go through everything the OP went thru to get the discount? Also, for those that have done the TREK is a real lunch or just a snack. From the reviews and videos I have seen it looks like a snack.

Thanks!

I did it 2 weeks ago, it was great! I would call it a snack, it's a sample size of various foods.

I just called to inquire about pricing and availability and was told that I could not apply the DVC discount on top of the afternoon discount. I guess I need to call DVC in order to find out about how to get the discount. So frustrating to "USE" your dvc perks.

We did the morning tour on our last trip and it was spectacular. We received our full DVC discount without any questions - it was just applied when we made the booking. It was an amazing tour and exceeded our expectations. The best part, as crazy as it sounds, is when we had a huge rainstorm roll in. We were in the truck on the Savannah with the giraffes when the rain started, and it poured. The giraffe behaviour in the rain was fascinating, though. For example, the littlest one was quite new and scared of the rain, and the parent went running over to shelter and calm him. I'd never seen a giraffe really running, but he made it across the field in moments. We all got soaked, but the animals seemed to like the rain and we got to see so many different cool things specifically because of the rain. Then the weather cleared off in time for our little lunch at the outpost. For us, the lunch was filling (six small containers of smoked salmon roll, cured meat, three little pitas, date cake, granola, dried fruit and rinded soft white cheese, and mixed fresh fruit), but we eat light during the day and are adventurous eaters (ie: loved the ostrich at Jiko).

How early can you book this ???
I was thinking about november 11th and want to try to get the first one in the morning.
Are there any discounts for the first tour ???
We are dvc, ap and Florida residents (we will be four adults so any discount would be great)

I have been trying to get this discount for our August 3rd reservation but after 3 tries I am giving up.
First I was told I could only get either or discount but not both the $50 afternoon and 15% DVC discount.
Second I was told that there was a Summer Month Block Out for the DVC discount
Third I was told that there are only a selected number of slots available for DVC discount and none were available. I must have called to late to get since all discounted slots were taken for my day.
I then asked to be transferred to a Manager who told me that I needed to look at the bottom of the Discount page where it says: These offers may only be available to Members at various times and may or may not be renewed or extended. She said she would check for me again and then came back and told me that there were no discounts available and nothing they could do due to the fact that they don't have to offer them to me with out any notice. She was not the nicest about it and I remained very patient.

I am disappointed because it seems that the few DVC perks / discounts that are actually LISTED are not even real. I understand they can go away and I did not buy into DVC for them, but when I see them listed I would like to be able to take benefit from them. I really feel like I was told anything to get off of the phone on 3 different occasions when the real answer was just that there was no real discount for me in the first place.
