Never stayed in the cabins. Any suggestions for requests? Are any more "spread-out" than others?

Depends on what you are looking for in a location. Below is a link to a map of FW, each loop has anywhere about 30-70 cabins. You can find videos on YouTube of the different loops if that helps.

PDF Map of FW: http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/fortwilderness.htm

Cabins are in loops 2200-2800 (right side of the map)

I see the internal bus has 2 stops at the cabins. Looks like the 2300 would be good and less of a walk?

There are three.
  • End of 2200 and one side of 2300
  • Between 2400-2500-2600
  • Between 2800 and 2700
If you just want to be close to a bus stop, 2300 would probably work. Since 2300 is different from the other loops with and entrance and exit at different locations to the main drive, it could work well. The exit near 2200 is very close to a bus stop and the entrance near 2400 is not too far from that bus stop.

Try and request Cabin 118 and 120. Those are in the 100 loop (I believe) by all the dining and the ferry to the Magic Kingdom. Those are the VIP cabins. I've heard of success getting those. Probably more luck of the draw than anything else. When do you plan on going?

We love the 2500 loop. It's a small one, so no matter where you are, the walk to the bus is short. There is a bus stop across the street at 2600 to go to the Settlement area and the boat, and it drops you off in front of 2500 coming back.

It's right next to the quiet pool and laundry, so easy to run over when you want to.

We stayed in 2300. We liked being on the west side backed up to the "creek".

We are going this weekend/Sat. Those would be great but they are probably spoken for I'm sure. I don't see them on the map?

I just called and added a request to be close to the "boat dock" so maybe they will see it. The only online check-in was to either be close to transportation or the pool. Guess we will see if we get lucky!

The 100 loop has only the two cabins. I wonder how difficult it is to get either of them.

Pretty darn difficult.

Due to their location, they would stay full 24x7 based on requests alone. So requesting them doesn't always get you in even when there is no guest in them or due.

But it can't hurt to ask. Just don't get too focused on getting one of the loop 100 cabins.

Update:
We did NOT get a Loop 100 Cabin. We were in Loop 2400 (2447), we were close to the bus stop though. We did walk over to loop 100 to look at the campsites and cabins. They are in the perfect location but I'm not sure who you "have to know" to get them. We also found that the campsites would be tight for our 5th wheel in that loop so I'm not sure we will be staying there in it. If we weren't close enough to walk to the boat dock DH would NOT be happy (he's not a bus fan) and we aren't sure we want to take a chance of where they would end-up putting us.

The cabin was very nice and I would rather stay there than in the AofA suites, unless the 1 bath would be too much of a problem.

The thing we liked MOST was our boat ride back during the MK fireworks. MAGICAL!:sail:pixiedust:

We stayed in the 2300 loop. I believe it was cabin 2300. Directly across from the bus stop. we just had to cross the street. We loved it. I would stay in any of the 2300 loop cabins. not a long walk to the bus stop and there's nothing behind you.

We stayed in cabin 2319 once. Although we had a golf cart it seemed to be close to the bus stop. It was also nice not having anything behind you. We were a bit disappointed though when we searched the cabin and found nothing what so ever related to Monsters Inc. The kids were a bit disappointed.

We have also stayed at 2831 once and were very happy that we had a cart as it was about as far as you could get from everything. Although it was kind of cool to have the horse trail behind us as my DS 7 would sit on the patio and wave at everyone passing by.
