Don't know if anyone else has received this but we had a new FVC membership card in the post this morning and as of the 31st dec 07 the 10% discount no longer applies to bookings made after that date. We have been on the website to see if any of the other benefits would be of any use to us.
These were:
Free car transfer to airport only the first 50 miles but as we live the in the west midlands not a lot of use, because you pay after the first 50 miles.:car:

Free night at airport hotel: but no parking :sad2:

Airport parking: But no overnight stay at a hotel :sad2:

National expess coach tickets: but that takes too long from here:bored:

Just wanted to know if anybody else thought the same? It looks as if when we go again we will book on-line at least then we get an on-line discount(hopefully)
:surfweb:

We got our card a while ago and it said we could stay on the 10% discount but if we took one of the extras we could not go back to the 10% discount!

Claire ;)

we too had a new card a while ago but this new one came today and this is what is says on the leaflet:

we've relaunched the fvc and made a few changes. the 10% discount has been replaced by some fab new benefits desigined to get your holiday off to a great start. Bookings made after the 31st dec 07 will be under the new scheme

Interesting as the benefits are alot less £'s than the 10% discount we would usually get!! Plus none of the benefits are of use to us as DMIL take us to the airport each time we go away as she is a private hire driver. Oh well looks like VH have lost us as big spenders :(

Claire ;)

I am confused. I have not received any notifcation or card in the post. I am on the flying virgin club and not frequent flyers club. Will this mean that I will no longer get the 10% discount even though they have not written to me.

Your right the 10% is more than the extra's. :sad2:

They lost us a few years ago, we go upto 4 times a year and have spent £1,000's with VH, now we have to stick to school hols they are just way overpriced. I have just posted this morning about the crazy prices of VH. here's a copy of it below. They must be reasonable for some people but we never find it anymore.

I priced up next Easter for us with Virgin, Flights, Hotel and car £4,500 after discounts.
Doing it myself same direct Virgin flights, same car rental company, £2,500. Saved so much we have added a 4 night Disney cruise at £1,600.
£2,000 saving or £400 and a free Disney cruise.

Personally, I think that VH and VA have been losing that 'something extra' for a few years now, and FVC was the only decent thing left so we'll no longer be loyal (altho' to be honest we haven't really been as loyal for a while now).
There's so much competition out there, they no longer stand out from the crowd I'm afraid.

I still like VA for the flights but am finding it alot cheaper these days to do everyhting seperately myself. The only exception was NY when VH dropped the price of POFQ after New Year but WDW would of kept it rack rate. So we made on that holiday but I can't see it happening often. Plus now we have bought into DVC there will be no VH packages for us anymore to Orlando!

even they aren't as good as they used to be - the drinks used to be great (had JD now it's the basics only), the ammenity kits were better and there seems to be more flights advertised with better leg room than Virgin. I don't think Virgin will be near the top of our list in future and at one time we'd never think of anyone else.

we know what you mean we would never dream about using anybody else all of our florida trips including next years have been with VH but we think it will be the last time, these new benefits come no where near the 10% we used to get, but there are plenty of other ways to get to wdw.

We got the new card today too. But as we now tend to book direct with VA, it doesn't bother us not to have the discount.

I havent booked with VH for the last few trips. We tend to go twice a year if possible and usually have a AP so we tend to get cheaper rooms. So far i have always found VA flights to be cheapest direct flight from London so ive only flown with them. I always look at the others but i dont really want to go without my seatback TV for 9 hours!

I agree the service with VA is not as good as it used to be - on the way out after the meal no drinks were brought round - we had to go and ask each time, they used to bring ice creams(choc ices) round but again we didnt get this. On the way back the drinks service missed us lol! so we had to go get them again. Little things seem to be slipping.
