Whats the best hilton TS property in your opinion (maintenance fees, etc)? Looking for a resale....

The TUG boards would have the best answer. Definitely a platinum one (platinum, gold, and silver pay the same based on room size...so like someone with 2400 "silver" points might pay the same as someone with 4800 "platinum" points). Our Seaworld HGVC isn't bad. I heard Las Vegas properties are good, along with some of the Florida ones.

Okay, 2-bedrom gold season (5,000 old points / 8,000 new points value) is probably worth about $1,500 - $2000, not including closing costs, in my opinion. $3K is not terribly over price, but initial cost really isn't the big expense of timesharing, so tell your brother to just enjoy the usage and not worry too much over water under the bridge; just create many precious memories on vacation with his family. I will say that HGVC is my most favorite ownership and timeshare system (ops, did I just say that out loud in a DVC forum?). However, although timeshare is not an investment, DVC has held it's value better and only timeshare to increase in value, so it's a very close 2nd to me. But I will be honest, Hawaii vacation is best for me, but my family love Disney too, so whatever makes the family happy .

Do you stay at a HGVC resort when you go to Hawaii? If so, which one? I may be looking to add a week there if we decided our Aulani points aren't enough, and debating on Marriott, but am open to HGVC.

Yes, I stayed in both the Lagoon Tower and Kalia Tower in Hilton Hawaii Village on Oahu. I also stayed in Bay Club and Kings' Land in Big Island.

On Oahu, I have also stayed at Marriott Ko Olina. Obviously, I stayed at Aulani too, as that's my DVC Home Resort contract/howernship. While I like Ko Olina much better in terms of more relaxed vibe/ambiance than Waikiki, I love to eat and there is something to be said about the much more convenient food options in Waikiki. Unlike most folks, I plan my vacations around meals, not activities, LOL!!!!
