Finally - In my opinion, a decent fundraiser.

Everything is $5. It's Easter Candy like chocolates, jelly beans, jummy bunnies, jummy sour worms, caramel turtles, nut mixes. They also have cheddar cheese spread, jalapano spread, and a beef stick (like hickory farms).

I repeat everything is $5. So, why is it so difficult to sell the products.

For years and years I have been a student. Now I am in graduate school. I haven't had a real job in 10 years. I have supported my friends with their partylite, tupperware, pampered chef parties, etc. Minimum order of $25

Other than Girl Scout Cookies, we have chosen as a family not to participate in many school fundraisers.

Last fall, the band fundraiser was, in my opinion, something that I could not ask friends and family to purchase. So I opted out and had to sent in a $30 check to the school instead.

This fundraiser is going towards a band trip and will benefit my daughter's fund. I will have to pay the difference if she does not raise enough money.

Next time I am invited to one of those parties maybe I shouldn't go. I only go to support my friends. I am not working.

What is the problem here?

And my husband's company just got bought, so we can't ask his co-workers because they will be losing their jobs before the products come in.

Couldn't he still ask? Some of the ladies have known our daughter for ten years. The only problem is that they would live 45 minutes on the other side of town.

Thanks for caring

I wouldn't ask the co-workers. That would be insensitive and even if they bought, do you want to waste that kind of gas to deliver stuff 45 minutes away.

For some people, the budget may be tight enough that EVERY $5 counts now, even when it didn't before.

For others, they would rather spend money under the guise of a "party," than a fundraiser. You could always hold a party to sell your daughter's band goodies or go door to door with your daughter in your neighborhood. That's what I always did for my fundraisers.

I hate all these petty fundraisers. No one likes to buy this junk or attend these stupid home parties. I don't ask people to purchase things and they don't ask me to purchase. If your husband wants to leave the sale sheet in the break room he can do that rather than doing the awkward ask.

I know, we aren't really going to ask co-workers. That would be very insensitive. It's just that my daughter in finally in her first year of band. And this is the first fundraiser that we will be participating in and we are not getting very many responses.

I didn't want to want door to door because there is not sidewalks and it is really cold and windy outside.

The thing that enters my mind is where is the product made. We never buy any candy made in China and most of the stuff you list is usually made in China.

I have 5 children, who are in choirs, cub scouts, brownies, girl scouts, travel soccer, travel baseball, little league, irish dancing... I have 4 - 5 fundraisers going on at any given time (4 kids are spending their delayed opening filling out addresses of their friends for magazines - everyone knows not to buy, because we have the same fundraiser). Tell me how much you will make off of the fundraiser, I'll write you a check. I don't want overpriced "stuff."

Our 6th grade and travel baseball team have a great fundraiser - grocery store gc's. We buy the cards, and get a small percentage. No money OOP.

If it's too cold to go door to door see if the company has an email site that you can access for clip art, etc and send a form out email. I would include product pics, pricing and a way to order....GOOD LUCK!
