Fundraising Tips

DW and I have signed up to run for Team ASK. Our fund raising goal is $2000. I know some of ya'll have done plenty of fund raising for many great causes. Does anyone have any tips to make this go smoothly and without making our friends uncomfortable. Any leads on good businesses to call on? Thanks for any help that ya'll can offer.

I WISH I were a good fundraiser. I am not. I just wanted to say don't give up and ask everyone. People who give to other events will say and those who do not and are looking to support others will be willing.

I know some folks have held garage sales, car washes, flower sales and such to assist their fundraising.

One of the Team in Training ladies in our neighborhood left a flyer in our mailboxes - asking if possible that we donate our pop cans. She asked us to leave them (date) outside with the flyer attached and she would pick them up. It was worded very nice.

In Michigan we pay a $.10 desposit on our cans - it all adds up

Some of my friends do annual fundraisers which have an online component to them - it lets people contribute online and it also e-mails friends and family with a link so that they can do so. I've received a couple of those messages and it usually doesn't bother me. I'll contribute what I can, if I'm low on money it might only be $5. Other times I have seen donation links posted on personal blogs (maybe Facebook)...

At work we do an annual bike ride for charity and a few people on my team will e-mail our vendors to ask for donations. They usually end up contributing a few hundred at minimum so after a couple of donations, they're usually at goal.
