I am trying to think of fun ways to burn calories when it is too cold to go outside? i am tired of just siting like a lump on a log :)

Well it's rotten cold here and I use my treadmill and stepper-only when watching the View though otherwise I'd be bored. I also joined our neighborhood parks and recreation center which has a fitness center, pool, and 2 jacuzzis for only $65 for 3 months. I also don't mind bundling up and walking with my son when it's cold-- we like the fog a lot.

I find yoga to be a good indoor activity. If you've ever done it before and you're familiar with basic movements I suggest doing an online class from Yoga to the People. I've been to their studio in NYC before and like the convienence of doing yoga when I want in my own apartment. Their online classes are essentailly just 60 minute recordings of a regular class and it's FREE!!! You can save them on your computer or download it to your mp3 player. They do a decent job of explaining poses and positions, but I wouldn't recomend doing it without being familiar with yoga first.

Here's the website: yogatothepeople.com/tryOnlineClass.shtml

Good Luck!

I actually enjoy jumping on a re-bounder. 10-20 minutes of that really get's you sweating. I also like video's in the winter.

Course - I don't know what is wrong with me right now - I feel like a slug, I'm freezing every day to the point that I just want to stay in bed.

Please don't think I am rude...that is certainly not my intent. But you are in Florida. Even with your cold snap, it is really not too cold to go outside. I am in Maine and run outside all year long (including last week when it was just FIVE degrees out).

I realize that Floridians are more sensitive to cold, but it is just so much healthier to get out there. And you really DO get used to it. And once you are moving, you warm right up. I promise! :goodvibes

It is totally worth it to just get some cold weather exercise clothes. Since you are in FL you really would only need two sets, maybe, of cold weather gear. I would be happy to make recommendations for you if you are not sure what you would need. :flower3:

Try a balance ball. Use it as a chair when at your desk, or while watching tv. You'll find yourself bouncing and working on your core stability. While it's smal movements it's movements that can be done at any time.

Thanks for all the ideas! Don't worry about offending me. I know I am from florida and I am the biggest baby about wheather  I am tempature challenged

My cable system-Comcast has all sorts of free exercise programs in their "On Demand" section. I've told a few of my friends about it since they weren't aware that the workouts were offered. Its quite possible that other cable systems offer something similar. I know Comcast has a wide selection.
