We get ready to go to DL by making countdown calendars for all little people going. Did one for Nana one year too. This year there will be 22 family members going. :jumping1: My DH made up a trivia contest for the adults. He even made trophies! What does your family do?

We have made a chain countdown..and I made another countdown thing that we have used disney paint chips with. I can post pictures of it if anyone would like to see it.

My mom and I have started a project. We took pictures that we took on our last Disney vacation and we got a scrap book and made like a 30 day countdown Advent calender sort of like the Christmas ones. But every day you flip over a new page and its one day closer and shows a different event or location in Disneyland to remind us of what a good time we had and what is to come. That way its something that we can use over and over again. :)

I found that it was a great way to save our favorite items that we collected from the trip, such as plane tickets, park brochures, ticket stubs etc.

Last year when we told our girls we had planned a trip -- we had cute mickey and minnie stickers for them to make a picture with. We presented them with tote bags (I had gotten on clearance from the Disney store) along with Disney coloring books, crayons, Princess swimsuits, etc (I just kept my eye open for when everything went on sale) -- just filled the totes with stuff they would need for the trip. They also have all of the disney snack foods, too. Anyways, my girls LOVED their totes and it was really fun!
My mom bought a Mickey waffle maker (actually she has the one that has a single mickey and the one that makes 4 small mickeys) -- so I think for our trip this fall we will celebrate with a special Mickey breakfast!
I love the idea of a countdown calendar, my girls would love that!princess:

WE make a countdown calendar and my dd puts a princess sticker on each day counting down.

We made a "Circle Tour of Disneyland" CD that we listen to at dinner, with songs and sounds from the park. We started on Main St. and moved clockwise around the park to Adventureland and so on. We used the full length versions of songs that you hear snippets of on the actual attractions. Really gets us pumped up!

me too! would love to see some pics!

Here are the pics....the chain was started a few months ago...now we're down to just one because we leave tomorrow. My son got a kick out of taking one off each night. It got shorter and shorter so quick.
The other one I just cut "bubbles" out of construction paper and we glued up a Mickey Head (Home Depot) Paintchip up each night....we have one left then we leave in the morning.

Cute chain Mommy with Dreams!! We also do a paper chain here (sometimes we dont' get around to it though if the trips are really close together!) and we watch lots of Disney movies and listen to Disney CD's and basically anything we can get our hands on. But that's kinda all the time, not just at trip time.

Boy, now I need to think of something new to do for trips that we don't do all the time anyways!!!

I've got Cd's in my car, and we watch lots of disney movies before we go too. That I forgot to mention. This year is going to be my dads first time ever, so I am going to rent the Indiana Jones movies and watch them with him, cause I know once he gets on the ride, he will think hes Indie Jones.
