Doing a split stay soon OKW then SSR.
I was wondering about things to do at those resorts, or things I should know especially during current state of things. TIA.

Hi. The pool area at OKW is awesome, and there's a lot going on. CMs run trivia and other games at the pool, music, bikes to rent, quick service food and a full bar (we took our fried pickles and margaritas to our pool chairs!), pool slide is fast & fun, Olivia's is a great, relaxing restaurant, the store is pretty nice. We went without kids so I can't speak to "little kid fun", but we decided we are definitely going back to OKW!! (We're BLT owners). Haven't stayed at SSR in ages, so I'll let someone else take that. Have an awesome time on your trip!!

They do a 1.6 mile fun run/walk at OKW on Wednesday mornings. There is a small fee, you get a metal, water bottle, water and a snack when you finish. Not sure if they are doing AM yoga at SSR yet. SSR has 2 feature pools with water slides, hot tubs and kids splash area. The Grandstand pool has a kids spray area, hot tub and a decent size pool, no life guards. There is also a soda refill station there and the pool bar used to be open for limited hours during busy times. The last pool in Congress park is usually almost empty. It has just a pool and hot tub. No kids area. SSR also is where the golf course starts and ends at. The course winds through OKW and SSR. Both have Surry bikes for rent.

Ohh my first official run! I can do 1.6 miles. I hope it is early am. August is 🥵. Thanks!

If they're doing the Conch Flats Tour right now at OKW, that is fun and interesting.

At SSR, we created the The Great Saratoga Springs Pool Hop Challenge! Here's how it works. The point of the challenge is to see how quickly you can visit (and swim) in all five of the Saratoga Springs pools. The rules are pretty straightforward. The point is to get from pool-to-pool as quickly as you can, while still actually swimming in each pool. Also, you want to travel safely of course(!) Also, make sure that ask if anyone in your group needs to use a restroom before the clock starts ticking. It is also busy around the High Rock Spring pool, so be courteous and watch for foot traffic.

The Six Rules of the Great Saratoga Springs Pool Hop Challenge
  1. Time Starts when you enter the water of your first pool.
  2. Time stops when you complete one minute in the water of your fifth and final pool.
  3. Time does not stop or suspend at any time throughout the challenge.
  4. There is no prescribed order of pools: start and finish wherever you like.
  5. Motorized vehicles are not allowed for an official race time (you can't drive your car or a scooter between pools).
  6. Take a photo before you enter each pool. A single shot of one family member is fine. The time stamp on the image also helps to track your time.
The first time we did it our time was 33:39. We've honed our strategy over the years and our current best time is 21:16.

Here are a few tips that we've come up with during the creation of the first Great Saratoga Springs Pool Hop Challenge.

a) Rent bikes
It is much more efficient (and fun) than trying to run around to each pool.

b) Do a dry run
Chart your course and do a dry run on your bikes first so that you can pick the best order of pools and route for your family. You also want to know where you're going so that you don't waste time looking at maps when the race is on.

c) Wear quick change clothing
You can save time by wearing shirts and shoes that are easy to slip in and out of at each pool. Travel light and plan ahead.

So, if bike rentals are happening, this can be a fun thing to try at SSR. Yes, we do love creating our own little games and comps at our favorite resorts :)

Sounds like fun! But takes away from the actual relaxation of swimming . What do you do dip your big toe? If you had spotters you could make sure everyone went from one end of the pool to the other but then ya gotta walk back for your bike. Maybe I’m not getting it. Please elaborate on the transition from bike to pool . And timing. Thanks! 💪🏼I’m ready ! Lol

At each pool you have to go into the pool (you don't have to dunk your head, but at least standing in the pool) and stay in the water for one minute. We do it as a family, so we start a watch timer as soon as we get in. We all get in at once and exit at once. We're not racing each other, we're racing the clock. I wrote a couple of blog posts on it, with more details and photos etc. The CMs who ask what we're doing love The Great Saratoga Springs Pool Hop Challenge, lol.

It depends on what you consider early. If I remember correctly, I think it was around 6:30 or 07:00 AM start time. When we are on vacation 07:00 AM is a real early start time.

Does anyone know if they're still doing the bike rentals at this time? OKW has been a great place to rent bikes and drive around, because the resort is so flat. But I wonder if they've suspended the rentals.

Bikes are still for rent. Pretty much all of Florida is flat.
