I seem to remember a while back there was a thread about unknown/little known things to do in the parks. Well, here's my modest contribution:

Save some bread from lunch and feed the fish in the Great Inland Sea at IOA!

Two good places are the terrace outside the back of Enchanted Oak or on the bridge between Lost Continent and Jurassic Park, near the Flying Unicorn.

Okay, okay, it doesn't rank up there with DD, but the fish are big and it's fun to watch them zip in to nab those little chunks of bread and watch the ducks try to compete. The fish always win.

We passed on our bread to some passing kids and they had a ball.

What a fantastic tip....kind of like a stop and smell the roses thing.

Some of my favorite memories of our trips are the simpler and free things.

Thanks a bunch!

One thing that we always do when we're in the parks is take advantage of the "Photo Ops" setups (Kelly describes these in his excellent guide). Using your own camera, you'll get great souvenir "fake" photos that really look authentic. Pay attention to the directions; they tell you how to center your camera and even the best time of day for the shot. Works for fancy or cheap cameras (although a self-timer is nice to get the whole group). Free and fun!

IOA: space shuttle (between Jaws and MIB)
US: Hollywood sign (across from Horror Makeup Show)

One of those moments occured with us last year by the gate at the water ramp that leads into US lagoon. A momma duck and babies were being fed pretzel or something when all of a sudden one baby started gagging on too big of bite. The momma didn't know what to do, just paced around her baby. As everyone was trying to figure out who to call over to help the poor thing, it made a beeline down the ramp and dipped it's head in the water. It dislodged the pretzel and in about two seconds the mom and babies were back begging again. People actually cheered the duck family afterward!

There were ducklings at IOA when we were there last year. They were so cute. We actually have them on videotape. :)

Thanks for the tip about feeding the fish! :)

I never knew there was fish in the Great Inland Sea. Shall I bring my fishing pole on my next visit?

I wonder if security will let you bring into the park a bag of old bread to feed the fish.

Speaking of little known things ... does anyone know where the IOA troll lives?

The troll is on the bridge that is behind Mythos. If you are coming into Lost Continent from Suess on the left there is a path before you get to Mythos. Go over to the bridge and you may awaken him.

I like walking past Sneetch Beach in Suess Landing. Because the crowds stick to the main route through Suess Landing, this way is quiet and peaceful.

Does anyone know if the Studios lagoon has fish in it too?
Probably by now. They killed them all last fall and it stunk but fish have a way of regenerating.

'Nother fun thing:
Soda Bar now open at Comic Strip Cafe. :drinking1
Mix bubblegum, pineapple, watermelon, strawberry, lemon, grape, orange, blue raspberry, cherry, lime, or vanilla flavoring with your favorite soda.

The soda bar sounds awsome. My kids will love that the next time we go.

Fun thing:

Play the color coded musical notes on the piano located on the top of Me Ship, Olive.

Pay a quarter to water blast unsuspecting Ripsaw riders.
