I'm having my DS's 1st birthday party in a few weeks. I'll have about 15 kids ranging in age from 1-10. I'd like to do a fun party favor. My SIL gave each kid a big beach ball which I thought was a cute idea, but I was hoping for some other suggestions. I'd like to keep the price to under $4 per kid.

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

How about Bubbles?

A few years ago we did Waterguns for all the guests at our kids combined birthday party (warning the parents ahead of time, of course!)

We have also given kites as favors, the kids had a blast with them at the park where we held our party.

I was going to suggest bubbles also or sidewalk chalk.

Bubbles would be my suggestion as well, everyone loves bubbles. Sidewalk chalk would also be a good choice.

I was going to also sugges bubbles. You could also get small sand pails w/shovel and put a few small things in or some individual bags of snack crackers or cookies in it.

Coloring books and crayons. You can get cheep ones at a dollar store.

Let me tell you from experience, the one year olds will eat the sidewalk chalk. If you can find beach balls for cheap that sounds good or bubbles or some tactile manipulation thing like stress balls though I don't know about little ones with that!

Do you have a Party City near you?

They sell cute party favors in packages of 4 or more. From there, I've gotten little water guns shaped like animals (alligators, elephants, etc.), little Slinky-like thingies, bubbles in necklace form, plastic dinosaurs, rubber balls, crazy straws, etc.

I've gotten nice plastic cups there, placed an assortment of these little treasures in them, and wrapped them in cellophane for party favors. (Did this a few years--my child has an August birthday.)

I went to our Dollar Store and got things for our last trip goody bags for the kids....

I got sand pails for each, and wrote each kid's name on the shovel blade. Inside, you could put a bottle of bubbles, coloring books and crayons, candy necklaces and other fun candies they don't get all the time.

If you can find the small-sized ones, you can let them make "dirt" in them for dessert and just let the pail be the souvenir....just be sure to wash them all first. "Dirt", by the way, is definitely a kid's recipe....it's layers of chocolate pudding, whipped cream (cool whip), and crushed oreos....and you put in gummy worms to enhance the effect :) I've also seen it with flower lollipops "planted" in the cup....cute!

At our local Dollar tree they have kites 2 to a pack for $1, we've also used water guns (I know some parents don't go for that, but they sure are fun). Dollar Tree also sells styrofoam airplanes that can you put together, they work pretty well, too, DS6 & DD4 both have fun with these. Another idea is sidewalk chalk - Dollar Tree. If you have one of those stores in your area, go there, lots of inexpensive party favors.

We did the bubbles, but I made wrap around labels on the computer that said "Katie's First Birthday Bubbles" and glued them on each bottle with gluestick. Another idea would be to check out www.orientaltrading.com They have great stuff at great prices!

I was going to suggest the same as the poster above me, orientaltrading.com. About an hour ago I purchased party favors and game prizes for her 9th birthday party from Oriental Trading. Although I wasn't looking with a 2 year old in mind I'm sure they'd have something there.
Good luck.

Walmart sells some cool "outer space looking" water guns by the 4-pack for about $4.00. They also sell some neat colorful summer sippy cups for about a dollar, you could fill that with candy and small toys. I know this doesn't help now, but I usually go into Walmart right after Labor day and get all their summer clearance toys for 50-75% off. I got a bunch of those water guns last year for a dollar/4 pack, so that's what I'm basing this years summer goodie bags around. I think that one cool thing in a bag with a lot of little things would be great-sometimes with kids, it's volume more than quality...I LOVE THE DOLLAR TREE!!!:teeth:

If you have a Dollar Tree near you, you can easily make some very nice goodie bags for under $4.00.

Go to the dollar store and get each of the kids a sand bucket, bubbles and sidewalk chalk. You can put the bubbles and sidewalk chalk in the bucket, and using stickers or a sharpie marker, put each child's name on their bucket!
