Are there any fun, kid friendly restaurants that are NOT in Downtown Disney? I'm thinking something like T-Rex, Rainforest Cafe, Hardrock, Planet Hollywood? We are doing a non disney trip, and I know we could go to downtown disney, but would just like to avoid it (it will just be too hard having to explain to my oldest 2, again, why we are not going to Disney).

Thanks!

The are some theme restaurants at Universal's CityWalk: Hard Rock, Nascar Grill, NBA City, Bubba Gump Shrimp, etc.

The "World's Largest McDonalds" is on Sand Lake Rd. :lmao:

I think there is also Medieval Times Dinner Show, Pirate Dinner Adventure pirate:and Arabian Knights Dinner Shows in Orlando.

SeaWorld and one of the Universal Hotels offer a luau.

Our favorite is Tu Tu Tango. They have flamenco dancers, belly dancers, and artist in the evening.

Tu Tu Tango sounds like alot of fun. How far is it from Wyndham Bonnet Creek and could you give directions? (I'm afraid I am directionally challenged--in other words I have absolutely no sense of direction, so need really precise directions to anywhere.:rotfl:).

Have you considered the Outta Control Dinner Show at Wonderworks? Both the menu and the entertainment are VERY kid-friendly. We loved it. Food is all-you-can-eat (served right to your table) and includes salad, popcorn, cheese pizza, pepperoni pizza and white cake, and unlimited beverages are also included (even alcohol). Tony Brent, the one-man performer, puts on a half-magic, half-comedy show that will have you in stitches.....he's hysterical. I would not hesitate to recommend this dinner show to families with kids of any age.

Oh.....and the price is very affordable :thumbsup2. About $24.99 per adult.....less if you find a coupon or special offer, or purchase your tickets online. Parking is super cheap at Point Orlando next door.....about $3 for the entire evening.

It is more of an adult atmosphere. Because of it's proximity to Disney there were children there; but I don't recall if they offered a children's menu. The address is 8625 International Drive.

Thanks for the suggestions!! I'm going to look into them both!

Thank you! My kids would probably love just going to McDonalds, lol. I'm going to check out the sites for these dinner shows, too.

They do have a children's menu, and children are a fairly common sight there, at least early in the evening. I've even seen them do kids activities.

That I-Drive McDonalds is pretty vile. Just dirty, and I've seen timeshare salesmen hassle people while they eat. There's one a bit further down Sand Lake Road, just past Turkey Lake Road, that is a lot nicer.

Cafe Tu Tu Tango is fun, and you could bring your kids, but in my visit it appeared to be more of an adult-type place. (Really, do you take your kids to a place with belly dancers?) If you go, be aware that their menu consists of small, appetizer-sized portions. You order 3 or 4 (or 5 or 6) items off of the menu and share with others at your table. For the adults planning to go here, their drink menu is quite nice. And all of the art on their walls is by local artists and is for sale. So go for dinner and bring back something to put on your living room wall!

I think Margueritaville at City Walk is fun. Guys walk around on stilts and make balloon animals. There is a volcano at the bar area that erupts frequently.

My kids love Cafe Tu Tu Tango. They have kids activities, usually coloring type crafts and things and you can sometimes watch artists paint or they have magicians. You can call and they can tell you the type of entertainment they'll have. They have flatbreads (pizza) if you have picky kids and DS thought it was so cool to be able to eat alligator :)
