Time for a hypothetical question.

You're at home the doorbell rings it's FedEx they have a package for you.

You open the package and there's a gift card from B & H photo.

The amount on the gift card is $3500.00.

You notice writing on the gift card envelope.

Rules on how you can spend the money on the gift card.

  1. You must order within the next hour.
  2. You can only buy one item (one item = one SKU number).
  3. You may not add any money (Except for shipping and tax).
  4. The item must be available, not a future release.
  5. You will not received any cash or store credit for any unused money on the gift card.

I'm gettin' me one of these!!!

(and see if the FedEx guy is delivering any more of these gift cards...and "re-route" those deliveries to me! ;) )

Well since you can't ADD any cash to the $3,500, unfortunately that big green Sigma is out...they run over $25,000!

And assuming the buying-a-gift-card idea is sneaky but not accepted in the spirit of the challenge...

I'd pick up a new Celestron CGEM-1100 11"/280mm Catadioptric Telescope Kit, with the motorized German equitorial mount. I've always wanted a good telescope, and one I could adapt to photography with a camera mount...but never could bring myself to spend the money on it because I wouldn't get very many chances to use it. So a free coupon for $3500 would make the decision easy!

I'd buy the Sony Alpha SLT-A99 DSLR Camera with 28-75mm f/2.8 Lens Kit...I think the bundle is around $3,200, so with tax and shipping, I'm on target!!! LOL

B-

that's easy....The Canon 5D III

When I put the question together I thought this would probably be the most popular answer. I actually raise the amount I was originally thinking of $2999 and I raised it to $3500 to accommodate the Canon 5D Mark III.:thumbsup2

Doh! :sad1:

I was just on Amazon.com drooling over this lens, and noticed that there were 68 reviews for this lens!!! 68 reviews?!?!?! How could 68 people afford this lens?!?!?

Until I actually read some of the glowing reviews (link to Amazon)... They're hilarious! ;)

This is by far my favorite review for that lens:

"Some may feel that this lens is a tad pricey but many forget about the needless things in their life that they can sell in order to purchase this beast. I immediately sold my vehicle because I was finally able to convince myself that I only use my vehicle a couple hours out of the day. It was sad that I even had to contemplate selling my car for this camera attachment but to somewhat justify my hesitation in selling it, I do drop off my children at school and use it as transportation to and from work every day. So, once I sold it, I realized that I had to come up with another $21,000.

I tried selling my apartment, but my landlord indicated that I could not legally do that. Whatever, Jim (Because I have learned not to burn bridges from past experiences, I stopped having open houses. Plus, the lawyer and court fees would put a damper on my upcoming Amazon purchase). Where was I going to come up with this $21,000? That's when a Sigma light bulb went off in my head.

I sold my two children to the Pesticide & Insecticide Testing Corporation. I feel it was a solid move on my part because they explained that my (now their's) children would always have enough to eat, exercise every day, and have a doctor present 24/7. With the money I made with this no-brainer sell and the under-the-table cash my wife was getting from working on the prestigious corner of Main Street and Almond Street, I was finally able to make the purchase of a lifetime.

I even had some extra cash leftover, so I decided to buy my first digital camera. This green monster looks great on my brand new Canon Rebel XSi. Thanks Sigma!"

I'd buy a 3D printer.

I'd like a Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM, please. I'm not greedy. They can keep the change if they'll rush order it to arrive tomorrow.
