anyone know of any fun/funky/cute places to eat in boston? Thanks!

Fun, funky and cute...hmmm.. I will have to ask my daughters....do we have a price limit as well???????I do like the Parrish Cafe not far from the Prudential where the sandwiches are named after famous chefs, funky inside, also a bar...what about Figs in Charlestown, great pizza, there is also a new Greek restaurant, sort of pricey, it is Meze....also in Charlestown..

Lots of interesting restaurants in the South End of Boston, tres chic...I will get back to you..

I love Fire & Ice on the corner of Berkley Street and St. James Street (one block from Boylston Street). It's about $17 in the evening, and it's all you can you. You pick out the meat, veggies, and sauce you want, and then bring it over to the grill for the chefs to cook. The food is great, and if you make a combination you don't like, just get something else. I recommend taking small servings so that you can try lots of things. There's also one in Harvard Square, but I like the one in the Back Bay better.

I also like P.F. Chang's on South Charles Street in the theatre district. It's part of a chain. The food is great.

If you're looking for something a little bit nicer, the Hammersly Bistro on Tremont Street in the South End is excellent. It's a bit pricey and has a rotating menu.

I've never been there, but I hear that Jae's is really good.

Out in Cambridge near the Galleria Mall, there is a great new restaurant called Bambara in the Hotel Marlowe. Excellent food.

Ive heard that Fire & Ice is cool, but Ive never been.

I dont know if its funky, but we have always had fun and decent food at the Hard Rock Cafe.

Mackey, its funny that I just saw this reply from you. I was talking about you tonight. Speaking of restaurants, we just got back from the Molise, LOL! Hadnt been there in over 6 years. ;)

Just wanted to chime in...We also like Fire and Ice a lot. Of course we go to the one in Providence though.

Another vote for Fire and Ice. Just about anyone can find something they'll like to eat and the lemon-blueberry infused tequilla is to-die-for! I also love the Helmand, which is Afghani cuisine. It's near the Cambridgeside Galleria.

Another vote for Fire and Ice here. I go almost every time I go up to Boston...

I want help in this one too!!!! I don't like stir fry, so I don't think I'd enjoy Fire and Ice (though I've been told it's so much more ;) )

I often frequent the Cheesecake Factory since it's within walking distance of my dorm. Von, have you ever been there? It's not really funky, but its amazing. The portions are huge, the prices are reasonable, and the food is to die for. At least, I enjoy it ;)

Sonsie?? on Newbury is pretty funky. Everyone raves about it, apparently it's a favorite of Matt Damon/Ben Affleck. I wasn't too impressed with the food (perhaps it was my dish) but it had a great atmosphere.

I really like Fire and Ice. However, if you go on a weekend, be forwarned that the wait can be as much as 2 hours at the Cambridge location.

If you are looking for something more casual, I LOVE Bartley's in Harvard Square. I think that it is actually called Bartley's Burger Cottage or something like that, but it is a burger place right by Harvard Book Store (not the Coop). (Sorry if you already know all this, I got caught up in reminicing. I miss Boston so much!!!)

We loved Finale, ate there twice, although it is primarily a dessert only restaurant. It is out of this world!!!

There's two, one in the theater district, behing Legal Seafood and I think the other is near Harvard.

here's the website

I also have to vote for Fire and Ice. Great atmosphere.
But if you want great food in a sports atmosphere, you cannot beat the Fours on Canal St. Between Quincy Mkt and the Fleet Center. Fantastic food; I personally recommend the Doug Flutie (Buffalo chicken sandwich) or the Bobby Orr (steak and cheese).
I would tell you where to find the best pizza, but you'd have to go into the 'hood (Field's Corner in Dorchester).

I haven't been there in years, but when I was in college the Border Cafe in Harvard Square was a big favorite! Good food (Tex-Mex) and fun atmosphere!!

Also a Fire and Ice fan.

We also adore Dick's Last Resort - just outside the Pru. The waiters/waitresses are supposed to be slightly rude. You have to try the mud bugs (crawfish). Most food is served in a bucket.

Another favorite is Marche (or something like that) in the Pru. You shop for your dinner. You choose your meat at one station, salads, at another, etc. There is fresh pasta, seafood, fruits, asian foods, desserts, etc. It looks like an outdoor European market place even though it is indoors. The foods is delicious and cooked to your specifications.

Big fan of fire and ice here too...there's a cute little mexican place in south boston, off of west broadway...but i can't remember the name!
