We have been on other cruises but never a Disney cruise and I would like to try one. It would be DH, DS13 and me. Is it all kid stuff or is there adult stuff to do also? I love disney so kid stuff is OK for me but DH is a bit concerned that it would be too much for kids. Has anyone ever seen adults cruising on Disney without kids? TIA

Well, as of next week my DH and I are taking our very firsy cruise ever...on the Wonder. We don't have any kids, and no one's going with us. I am VERY excited to say the least. I am a big Disney fan, but my husband it just kinda neutral, but he's excited too. From what I understand there are parts of the ship that are adults only, like a swimming pool I know, and of course there's Palo the adult only restaurant. Then there's a beach at Castaway Cay for adults only as well. I think that you would have a very good time if you decided to do the Disney Cruise. Actually, a friend that I work with went back in the summer and didn't take the kids because they were too small, and she said that they had a BLAST! Every time I talk about going on our cruise she always wants to go with me! So yes, I think there are plenty of things to do for adults!

Thanks!! That is just what I wanted to hear. I really want to try a Disney cruise because I have heard such good things about them. Try to post something when you get back, I'd love to hear about it.

Hi there! My DH and I took our first ever Disney cruise in October 2004 and we don't have children. As much as we love WDW we were a little concerned that it might be too much in too confined an area, especially with kids around. But you know what? We had an incredible time - there are areas that are for adults only - the pool, the spa (oh how I love the spa.. :D ), the cove cafe, and Palo (I think I love Palo as much as the spa!). There is also special programming offered on board for adults only - wine tastings and cooking seminars and things like that.

If you like Disney then I don't think you can wrong with a Disney cruise. You'll be surprised by just how much there is to do on board and you'll all have a great time!

One thing Disney does very well (reportedly better than some other lines) is keep the adults only areas adult. I think they understand with that many kids on board, and a lot of people using the kids club to take a vacation with their kids and FROM their kids simultanously, there would be a lot of unhappy people if the cruise were completely kid centered.

Now, granted, a Disney cruise is not so "adult" that it can ever be mistaken for Vegas.

Barb and Tony have cruised DCL over 40 times now - no kids - and no kidding!!

There are many "adult" activities on board along with all of the family and kids programming.

On the 7 nighters (that's the cruises we go on) there are...
For Adults Only
The Navigator Series about the making and designing of the ship
The Art of Entertaining - includes classes on cooking, napkin folding, drink mixing, table decorating, the galley tour
The Art of Entertainment - where you meet some of the actors and behind the sceens people that provide the shows for us (the Walt Disney Theater is really riged for great productions)
Quiet Cove - coffee and internet
Adult Pool
The Beat Street area after 9pm that have adult cabarette shows, "game" shows, dance parties, etc
Spa
Wine Tasting Classes
Palo Dinner, Brunch and High Tea
Serenity Bay on CC

For Families
All activities in Studio Sea in the evening: game shows, family dance parties, family kareooke, the great vegie race and many other activities
Animation classes - learn how to draw Mickey and friends
Family (Goofy) and kids (Mickey) pools
All shows in the Walt Disney Theater
The sports court up on deck 10
Ice carving Demonstration up on deck 9
Sail away and deck parties
Family Beach on Castaway Cay

For Kids
Oceaneers Club and Lab
Flounders
Character meets (ok I'm a kid here - I LOVE the characters)
The Stack (Magic) and Aloft (Wonder) for the teens
QuaterMasters Video Arcade
Kids club on CC (don't remember what it's called - its away from the ocean)
Teen Beach

OK that's the list so far - I'm sure that I'm missing a lot of things

There's tons of stuff to do - for EVERYONE in the family - apart or together!! The hardest part of the cruise is choosing which activities NOT to participate in - because you CAN'T do it all - that's what the next cruise is for!!

LOL, well, we have taken two disney cruises, we are 46 and 43, with grown children. We cruised alone the first time, and our adult daughter (22) was with us the second time. We all found plenty to do, we had a blast. We leave on our third May 14th.

My wife and I have done two so far (we have no kids). A 4 day land/3 day sea and the 10-night Xmas.

Disney is OK for adults as long as you're OK with Disney overall.

DH & I did the Childless cruise for Valentines Day while DS was on another cruise (non disney) with his Grandma. WE had more fun in 3 nights they he did for 7 nights.

There are other activities for adults like Bingo, The Spa, The Bars and the Adult Only beach on CC was awesome. You take a seperate tram from the family beach to the Adults Only beach...It was actually too quiet for us so we decided to go back to the family beach...hahaha

I do agree Disney does do a well job of keeping the adults only as adults only
