Fun city names in your state/province/region etc...

We have some fun city names in NC and I know we aren't the only place so I figured it could be fun to educate others on those cities.

For instance, my favorite in NC city name is

Whynot

We also have Climax and from where I live, the quickest way to Climax is to go through Horneytown (real city, I promise).

If you head west of me we have Bat Cave and a bit east of me we have Lizard Lick!

One of my customers owns a concrete supply company called "Davis Supply". His name is Davis Weed but everyone always assumes his last name is Davis because of the company name.

He decided to use his first name because he thought using his last name would give off the wrong idea

To make matters better, his son's name is Harrison and he goes by Harry!

It's not even a city name, but when I was traveling through Washington state on the way to British Columbia, I passed through Whatcom County. The biggest city there has a more or less uninteresting name (Bellingham). Apparently the name comes from a native phrase for "loud water".

I just returned from San Diego. I had heard of La Jolla (prounced La Hoy-a), but had never seen it spelled. I NEVER would have read "La Jolla" as La Hoy-a.

La Jolla is just a section of San Diego though. Visited there enough times that pronunciation is almost automatic.
