Fun (cheap) ideas on what to do the day before in FT. Lauderdale?

Family of 4. 2 girls ages 8 and 10.
We'll be arriving the morning prior and will have a lot of time to kill before we sail off the next day. Other than visiting a Walmart, what are some not too expensive things we can do to have a good time in Fort Lauderdale?
The pool would be a good cheap thing to do, but we don't want to deal with the hassle of wet clothes to start the cruise.
Appreciate any ideas you all might have.

Are you staying at a hotel on the beach? We sailed out of FLL and did a pool and beach day at our resort and it was perfect. Our suits dried out just fine on the balcony that night! And even if they were still a little damp you could just throw them in a wet bag or even a plastic bag. I don't think you'll have to worry about anything being dripping wet by the next morning.

There is a cute little beach town called Lauderdale by the sea. We have stayed at the Windjammer beach resort since 1982 ( we are locals). Hotel right on the ocean it’s beautiful. They have a small little town with shops and restaurants all in walking distance from hotel. Port is very close

Visit Pompano Beach and stroll along the Fisher Family Pier, which has a playground, restaurants, shops, etc.

Visit Ft Lauderdale Beach and head to the LOOP (Las Olas Oceanside Park). Depending on when you are there you might find a farmers market, live music, or other activities.

The Jungle Queen or Water Taxi are two fun boat rides. There are some amazing mansions in Fort Lauderdale and both of those provide a great view.

We did an airboat tour at Everglades Holiday Park (we had a car rental for the day). It wasn't too expensive, but definitely more than going to Walmart.
