Well, let me begin by stating that this trip originated at the thought of one of my parents. They planned a family vacation for their children and grandchildren. That would be 10 people in all, ranging from 3 to 63 years old. Their idea was to plan and pay for a 5 day trip to Disney for all of us as a Christmas gift. Dad presented the idea to myself and my sister during the summer of last year. The only question I had was should I pack or buy clothes when we get there. My sister was not so enthusiastic and is not sure if they can go. Many of you are asking, is she crazy? Same question I asked, but she would need to consult with her husband. After some research, we decided that since all the grandkids would have spring break at the same time, spring break would be the best time to go. My sister opted out. Something about it is baseball season and they are not sure if their youngest is old enough to remember this later, since he is only 3 years old. She does not think they will ever go again. My brother in law does not think of Disney as the most magical place on earth (some child hood he must have had).

Well, if mom and dad's plan was to plan a trip for the whole family and half of the family is backing out, I guess it's not going to happen, right? Mom says there is no way one person should get to decide for the whole. She asks, do you still want to go? Same response from me, do we leave now or do I have time to go home and pack? Maybe we should plan and pack before we leave. Mom and dad say we can go whenever you want to go, our schedules are open. Since my wife is employed with the school system, it may be better to stick to the original plan and go during spring break. So our party is cut in half to 5 people, ranging from 8 to 63 years old. Let the planning begin!!

So the trip is put into action and now we have to decide all the details. Stand back--warning! I'm taking over the wheel and I'll ask your opinion once I've done some research.

Dad says it may be cheaper to stay off site and he'll cover the costs for 5 days and 5 days of tickets. After some research, I find that Disney is offering a buy 4 get 3 free plan, but our chosen dates are blacked out. Do you want to change the dates to take advantage of the plan? Mom and Dad say that's left up to us. Then DIS steps in and lets me know that we can still book the dates for the special. Thanks DIS.

Next day I'm and mom and dad's house to book the trip and dad's getting a deal. He was going to pay for 5 days and now he only has to cover 4. I am such a good son. We will each book our separate rooms at POP and dad will reimburse us when the final payment is due. Dad is great. Do we want the dining plan? My wife and son and I had the dining plan in 2005 and strongly recommend it eventhough it has changed. Dad says let's do it.

So the trip is booked--Dad, 63, call him J for big James; Mom, 59, call her Jo; me, 36, call me j since dad is J; my wife, 36, call her D; and our son, 8, call him d since wife is D. staying at POP from 4/11 through 4/18 in two separate rooms with the ddp. I couldn't have planned it any better--or could I?:snooty: that is the recurring question. I guess that will be determined later.

I want to read too- really want to see if the buy 4 get 3 is a better deal then free dining-- just to puzzle it. We are going next Sept-- so reading trip reports and comparing is all I have
