I am trying to find out more about this item, a full sized child's rocking horse that was purchased in 1958. It is a unicorn and was produced in conjunction with the re-release of the movie "Fantasia". I have not been able to find out anything else......anybody have any further info or sources I could go to for info? TIA

Tomart, volume 3, mentions that there was a "FANTASIA Unicorn Outdoor Bounce Toy", under the category- ROCKING HORSES... but I don't think your rocking horse is an "outdoor bounce toy". It's a rocking horse, and there is no picture or further info in Tomart that would give you solid history about the piece. I also checked the list of licensees and there were none listed that would fit into the time period you mentioned, however, that list is only American licensees. On the other hand, I believe your horse is USA, but I'd guess it was something that was just missed when Tomart was compiled. Sorry I can't offer an answer to your question...

My parents bought me the Disney rocking unicorn, in the late 1950's. My model had a blue horn, tan and cream body. It was on a metal frame and had heavy springs at each corner, rather than rockers on the bottom. It was made of a soft but very thick plastic or vinyl. It lasted well into the 1960's and two more of my siblings. I've never known anyone else who had one or even seen one. I have a photo of me in a cowboy outfit riding it, somewhere. If I can find the photo I'll post it.
