Looking for a nice, inexpensive, hotel w/ a pool for December in the Ft. Walton beach area.

Does anyone have recommendations?

Thanks!:goodvibes

This is not a hotel but a condo and is nice and the rates are reasonable. They usually are running a rent x number of days and get some free. I also have an extra percent off for a referral if you are interested. You can check out the condo at www.seacrestcondos.com. If you want the referral then PM me.

December is hugely off season here. Hotel discounts will abound. If you're willing to go just a little further, you'll find great discounts in Destin too.

My number one suggestion is always Sandestin at www.sandestin.com. It is the closest thing to WDW for us. We will often book a weekend there in the fall when things slow down (and cool down). It's a destination place.

If you're just traveling through, we have all the typical chains right off of I-10 - specifically in Crestview.

As for a pool, keep in mind that it gets cool here in December. It's light jacket weather for sure. Some of the big hotels (Hilton Sandestin) have indoor pools but it really can be chilly (or 75 depending on the day).

Another vote for Sandestin, specifically the village of Baytowne Wharf. THis reminds me of Boardwalk at Disney, restaurants, hotel, condos, everything spread out like a waterfront village.

You can't beat Sandestin. Much nicer than FWB area.

The Sandestin area is the one of the first choices Walt Disney originally had for land purchase in Florida.

herc.

I live just a few miles from FWB. I agree that the Destin/Sandestin area is far superior in terms of hotels, amenities and natural beauty. If you need to stay in FWB, there are several chain hotels, but without an indoor pool, it would be unlikely you'd swim in December here. One is pretty much the same as the other, quite frankly.

On Okaloosa Island, there are some other options, like a Sheraton on the beach...but I would seriously consider Destin/Sandestin if you are on vacation and not simply visiting relatives or something. Baytowne is nice (shopping, dining, lots of outdoor activities, an ice rink in winter) and the Sandestin Hilton is very nice as well. The Emerald Grande has the best view and there are untold numbers of condos down on the Gulf. A bit further on, the villages of Watercolor, Seaside and Rosemary Beach are quite nice.

Great thanks for the info. We are driving from Disney to pick up my stepdaughter who will be visiting a friend. We plan to stay 3 nights to visit with the friend and then return back to Disney where we will spend another week.

We will be visiting Pensacola as that was one of the areas my hubby wants to retire.
