My parents are cruising out of Ft Lauderdale on Dec 10. They are flying in the day before and need a place to stay. Is anyone from the area? Or has taken a cruise from there? Which hotel would be a nice one, clean, and if they had transportsation from the airport even better! Thanks for the help!

Sorry, I don't have any personal experience, but we too are cruising out of Ft. Lauderdale in June and are flying in the day before.

I checked into it a little, and there's the Sheraton, which is 3 miles from the airport and has airport shuttle service. I also found the Wyndam, which is a mile from the airport. I don't know if they have airport shuttle service. though. There's also the Courtyard by Marriott and they offer airport and cruise port transportation. They got a pretty good rating on Hotels.com.

I would be interested in hearing anyone's personal experience!

have you checked cruisecritic or tripadvisor?

I stayed at the Sheraton Yankee Clipper a few years ago and it was fine. Recent reviews though have said it's a bit rundown and I think I read that it's closing but I forget the date.

I did check Cruise Crtic and it looks like many of them have stayed at Sleep Inn and Suites in Dania. They have a pick-up service from the airport, breakfast, and a shuttle to the port. All for about $116 in early Dec. That is the one I think I will reccommend to the folks!

I live in Ft. Lauderdale now and have previously taken a few cruises out of here before we moved here. There is an really nice Embassy Suites near the port, they have the comp breakfast and happy hour free drinks at night. It's a great value and lots of cruise people stay there. We stayed at the Comfort Inn right on US 1 once, it wasn't too hot when we were there but they were in the middle of a renovations, this was a year and half ago, and I am sure it's better now. There is an Extended Stay down there near the port too. I would recommend the Embassy Suites totally!!! Good Luck..

I recommend the Embassy Suites too. We stayed there the night before a cruise (we actually cruised out of Miami but had free flights to Ft. Lauderdale so went there first). They picked us up at the airport (took less than 10 minutes to get from the airport to the hotel) and in the morning, took cruisers to the port (you could reserve the shuttle the night before). It is very close to the port...we could see the ships from our window! There is also an Outback Steakhouse next door that we went to for dinner. Highly recommend this hotel.
